Restore the old charm new ownership has lost

Avaliou em 17 de março de 2023

We've stayed many times at The Guess House in Natchez. It is a great location and the service was always wonderful. Sadly, since the Casey's sold to the new owners, it lacks what so many came to appreciate. A warm inviting smile when arriving and leaving, as well trying to make you feel welcome. Many of the faces we were familiar with are no longer there, and the new staff could use some training in people skills. I think they were trying their best, but it felt as though we were a burden just being there. We waited 30 minutes for the desk clerk to acknowledge were there. She was helping someone try and make a reservation on the phone. But at least look up and acknowledge that she would get to us soon. My understanding is that Mr. Henry, who worked the breakfast every morning for years, was asked to quit. It now takes 3 people to try and do his job. We had to ask 3 times to just get a coffee refill. Also, there is now a 21 day cancellation policy. I have never encountered this in all of our travels. I can understand 48 hours or even 72, but this just seems like corporate greed. Look, this is a great location and beautiful property. But bring back the Southern Charm it once had.

Nightmare in Natchez!

Avaliou em 2 de março de 2023

Terrible experience. No stars if I could. First night no hot water at 5 P. M. Still no hot water at 9:30 p. m. The head of the bed is lower then the foot of the bed. The remote for TV does not work, you have to manually change volume and turn on and off. I would suggest the waitress that served us to get a tray and use it. She brought us our coffee but no cream/sugar or any spoons. Later she brought our breakfsat with scrambled eggs instead of over easy... With no silverware to eat with. Was a full 4 - 5 minutes before we had forks... But no salt or pepper (which at that point we didn't care) . The second day we return at 5 after a full day of touring houses, looking forward to putting our feet up and chilling to find the TV had no signal. The lady said the company would have it fixed by 7. At 7:15 still no repair guy so we go to put our shoes on To go to the store and the chair breaks as my husband is tying his shoes causing him to fall unto the floor. At this point after I run down the desk chick down to report the chair... I am fed up a d request a refund, told her we would move elsewhere. She said she would get back to me... And of course she never did. We returned at 9 to fi d the cable guy finishing up Save yourself the frustration of what could have been a beautiful stay in a wonderful city

Christmas Pilgrimage tour

Avaliou em 21 de dezembro de 2022

The Guest House was conveniently located within walking distance of most of our destinations. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We loved the breakfast and restaurant area and again found the staff very accommodating. Room size was adequate for 3 older ladies with pleasant decor. The bath and carpets could have used a little fleshing up but all in all we were comfortable and pleased.

Rude and Unaccommodating Owner

Avaliou em 26 de novembro de 2022

I do NOT RECOMMEND this place. Owner and managers are NOT accommodating. The only reason we booked and drove the far drive to be here was so our 1.5 yo daughter could see the Natchez Christmas tree lighting, but it was cancelled unbeknownst to us or anyone we asked. So we had no reason be there, places were closing up and it was a ghost town except for the sad folks stuck there. The owner said we could NOT reschedule (after waiting 30 min for someone to even come to the front desk, then waited for a manager and then for him to text the owner and wait for a response) or get a refund but could get 10% off at their restaurant” so they could profit more off our loss (guests already get 10% off btw). We would have gladly come back and patronized it again for a weekend but they were rude, cold, and unaccommodating. This was not a Merry Christmas for our family. We would recommend patronizing anywhere but here as we have been to other establishments in Natchez which are far superior (we wanted to give somewhere new a shot.. jokes on us, I suppose.). With dirty bathrooms and musty rooms and unfriendly staff and owners (when we could find anyone to speak to), we’d definitely recommend NOT staying at the Guest House. Go anywhere if you want friendly staff and owners and a nice room.

Guest House Mansion and Restaurant

We tried out the great Mediterranean restaurant in the courtyard at the Guest House and it was a very nice place to eat a very delicious meal. It was recommended to us by a server at Planet Thai and we were glad he suggested it as we will continue to come here too when we are in Natchez!
