Quaint boutique hotel perfect for girl’s weekend

Avaliou em 5 de novembro de 2022

Hotel is in a great location on the street car line, short ride to the French Quarter. Complex was well kept and picturesque. Courtyard was pretty. Well-known seafood restaurant was right next door. Room was comfortable with A/C, large vanity and mirror. Housekeeping staff was helpful & friendly, gave us extra towels upon request. Coffee available in the lobby and we were able to store our luggage prior to check in and after check out. Breakfast was tasty but pricey, pool wasn’t heated & temperature of hot tub was inconsistent.

Couldn’t Find Reservation

Avaliou em 1 de novembro de 2022

Went to checking to this hotel Oct 28th around 8pm for Halloween weekend. Upon arrival couldn't find reservation, than informed me they have had issues with Hopper in the past with reservations so needed proof of stay/payment. Earlier that day had this issue happen at least 3 times. Was in hotel lobby for almost 4 hours trying to figure out if Hopper could send info they needed or hotel could find it. Lot of back and forth on hold and being transferred. Ended up booking room for one night thinking in the morning they would get information they needed (and I would be refunded). I had the proof of stay on Hoppers end showing hotels name, address and amount paid but that wasn't enough (have used Hopper before in multiple cities never had this kind of issue before). Had to pay the nightly rate of almost $200 (some hotels do comp nights (free) since you have reservation just with issue but they won't since was booking was with Hopper). In the morning, still wasn't fixed and was informed if I wanted to stay until Nov 1st it would be an additional $1000 (due to last minute reservation and being holiday weekend). Ended up going to Holiday Inn Express for $600 (included breakfast). Holiday Inn had no issue finding my reservation. In the end was out one night stay ($200), price of original booking at Maison St Charles and price of new hotel ($600). If Maison St Charles has an issue with Hopper shouldn't be able to book on their website. Wish someone would have informed me before checkin about reservation issues front desk staff said starting happening in early October. Waiting on Hopper and Maison St Charles on refund for everything.

Hidden Gem

What a lovely surprise. This hotel was not one that I was familiar with, but I was able to be accommodated at the last minute. Overview: The common areas are well maintained and have a feel of being in the French Quarter without the hassle of actually being in the FQ. There are many separate buildings with courtyards and brick walkways. They have lovely shrubs and greens throughout the property. They have 2 parking lots which have security. I met Mr. Paul Saturday evening, and he was a very nice gentleman. I met the day security guard and she was very friendly. I appreciated feeling that the area was being watched over. The open area directly behind the lobby has ample space to sit down and meet up with other friends who may be staying there too. There was even a display of pumpkins by the lobby door. Nice seasonal touch. It is not a spotless pristine antiseptic place. Instead it has a more relaxed lived in character to it which I found very much reflective of New Orleans itself. Room: I had a double queen room. It appeared to have been recently refreshed and had a nice flatscreen TV and hard flooring. The beds themselves were very comfortable and had lots of pillows. I love pillows. The vanity/sink area was spacious and had good lighting and a big mirror. The flooring in bathroom and vanity area was tile and it was a little slippery when wet. The tub also was pretty slick and I was glad I didn't slip. Maybe some sort of mat? I enjoyed the shower tub combo and the stylish glass half wall. Someone put some thought into that! They also had a USB plug which was perfect, because I had forgotten my phone charger with a plug. Very good update! Nice blackout shades so I was not disturbed by the sun in the morning! This was a very comfortable room that was thoughtfully updated. Amenities: They have a lovely coffee and tea set up in the lobby and they have a nice seating area if you would like to enjoy your morning cup there. The pool area was my favorite. It is in a courtyard area with a good number of loungers and space to relax. The pool is a decent size with a nice separate hot tub that was fully functional. I would like to enjoy some quiet time in this area when it is warm again. The area and the pool were very clean. There is breakfast available, but I did not have a chance to enjoy that. I did hear that they have waffles, so that is on my list for my next visit. Staff: Friendly is the theme at this hotel, evidently. I came out of the elevator and met up with a member of housekeeping and she warmly greeted me with a happy Good Morning. Both security guards were very friendly as they went about their duties. I had a lovely interaction with the front desk agent Keywanda She was very hospitable, professional and was knowledgeable about New Orleans, Overall, I will stay here again as I felt very comfortable. I appreciate management helping to accommodate my last minute request for a room on a busy Saturday in NOLA. I suggest you give this hidden gem a try!
