Great grilling with other long term stay guests

I was blown away by my whole stay at Candlewood Suites. My girlfriend booked us a room while our house was being finished up. The front desk agent Heather was extremely friendly and introduced all the amenities upon check-in, and even offered up a great place for a cheesesteak close by. When I got to my room, I was impressed by the spacious room and cooking area along with the cleanliness of the property. I had a small issue with my room and the GM Christine was absolutely wonderful in moving me right away. Plus, when we wanted a late night snack there was a fully stocked pantry. Overall, I would rate my experience 10 out of 10. The only issue we did have was housekeeping mixed up the day our room was supposed to be cleaned, but when we pointed out the error, our room was cleaned the next day. There is also an on-site barbequing area with two grills and patio tables to relax under. We had a good time kicking back and meeting other guests while cooking out. Will be coming back frequently.

Christine and her staff are amazing at the Candlewood suites in Newark Delaware. I am in hitels over 280+ nights a year and when I am in Delaware the Candlewood Suites is my ONLY hotel I stay at! Book your room NOW before they get sold out for the summer! I have my dates booked!

Pass on this hotel, leaves much to be desired

Was not a great experience checking in. Not told rooms would not be serviced during our two night stay. Returned after a day out and about and no refresh of towels etc. Sarcastic comment; no refreshing of rooms because of COVID? Not the case but if that’s the hotel policy say so on check in. We experienced several cars in the parking lot, males reclined in the seats and essence of Marijuana coming from all open windows and they were right in front of the entrance. Several folks cooking food on the grills by the entry way and some pretty awful language. Minor but Impossible for a man to put a toilet seat up and take a leak, seat does not stay up and was told that’s the case in all rooms; not the end of the works but combines with the rest of the experience, spend your money elsewhere.

I travel for a living so I’m in hotels over 280 nights a year. When Christine Davis accepted the position as GM of the Candlewood Suites I took my business from her other hotel and followed her. Christine is a true leader in the hotel industry and is the benchmark when it comes to customer service with her guests as well as her staff. Your search for a place to stay in Newark Delaware has been found with Christine and her staff at the Candlewood Suites #GOALLIN

AVOID-WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

BEWARE - Do not book! We had a confirmed reservation made weeks in advance. We’re arriving in the area late. My phone rings at 9:30 pm from an unknown # and I decide to answer. It was the hotel calling to say they didn’t have a room for us! Appalling they would do that at 9:30 pm. They claimed a “maintenance” problem. Code for overbooking I suspect. They weren’t even apologetic, didn’t offer to help us find a stay, not offered us any credit for a future stay! Offered to add points to IHG. Horrible, horrible customer service! Maybe hotel is ok, but I will never book it again. Beware and avoid. There are plenty of other places.
