We arrived at 5.30 after trying to call ahead as we were staying nearby and had been out all day. Dinner wasn't being served until 6pm so we were offered a comfy area to sit for a drink (very nice beer) while we waited. We had a delicious meal of burger and chips and it was huge! Dog friendly area was fantastic.

We came here for dinner at 4 minutes notice and the delightful staff .anaged to squeeze us in between bookings for supper. Lovely building which has been tastefully decorated. Staff enthusiastic, smiling and welcomingand food fantastic . Bream was sublime......

Best pub/ restaurant for miles around.

We had a fabulous evening meal here. Everything was delicious and very well presented. We had mushrooms for one starter and chilli prawns for the others, followed by smoked haddock chowder and the hake special. Deserts were chocolate torte and crème brûlée with a refreshing raspberry ice cream. The wine list is excellent. We have been using this pub for decades, so are very pleased it has reopened with new management/ ownership and a very tasteful refurbishment. We dined upstairs in a room we haven’t seen before and it was cosy yet spacious and comfortable. All the staff and management were professional and friendly and they offer an excellent range of beers and cider in the bar. We would definitely recommend this pub/ restaurant. We look forward to eating here again soon. This definitely is the best pub/ restaurant for miles around .

Really enjoyed the selection of food and drinks at this refurbished pub/restaurant/hotel with new owners. Great selection of beer and cider on tap plus good hot coffee. Wood burner in bar and open fire in restaurant making it cosy in winter. Staff were friendly, attentive and service was prompt. We enjoyed a generous portion of smoked haddock chowder plus fish of the day ‘hake rarebit’. Lovely desserts too. Looking forward to sitting in the garden in the warmer weather.

So great to have the George back open! Delicious and filling food, great service and the rebuild is very attractive. lots of choice on the menu and good veggie options. Very reasonably priced too. A great evening!
