We attended a wedding which was wonderful probably the best we have ever been too. The wedding food was superb particularly as it was catering for around 100 people. We stayed another 2 nights and were impressed with the food on both nights. Even the night another wedding was happening the food was superb. What really showed the attention to detail was the breakfast, even though it was buffet the product was good and the eggs fresh and correctly cooked. The room was of a high standard and the team friendly and efficient.

Wedding disaster!!

Let's start with saying they are lucky they got one star. The lead up to the wedding was good, the planners answered all emails and queries no problem (I say planners as they changed so many times). The day before is when the problems started, we arrived to drop all our decor off, and I had moved my appointment half an hour later a couple weeks beforehand and they forgot to move it. Then as I entered the foyer of the wedding suite, I was greated with my floral arch being in the wrong place, after multiple meetings of where I wanted it and told my supplier to check with the planner as to where it was to go. My bridal party and I were staying the night before the wedding and we were all in adjoining rooms, my family from England were also staying the night before. My bridal party had organised with the hotel for balloons and banners to be put up for me arriving, when i went in there was nothing there so my family then had to distract me whilst my bridesmaids blew up the balloons and decorated, when asked the staff they said they weren't asked to do it. My families rooms were absolutely disgusting with dirt, they then got moved to a double bedded room for two single adults instead of the two single beds, ended up back in the filthy room and had to clean it themselves. My cousin got locked out of his room multiple times in two different rooms because the card wouldn't work. Then on to the wedding day, Matthew the master of ceremonies I have to say was amazing, he was probably the only redemption of the day! We had the ceremony came out and cut the cake, the cake was put out along side the afternoon tea bits, there was hardly enough to feed half my guests nevermind the lot. Definitely not 3 per person!! There was also a fresh cream personal cake for my father in law to come out and it never areived, even though it was delivered by my cake maker! Our cocktail reception was supposed to be french martini and i had personalised toppers for them, I was greeted with champagne flutes to start, and my toppers on top of the glass looked ridiculous. I then tasted the cocktail to which it was prosecco with a fruit juice in, not a french martini at all!! I had given the wedding coordinator a load of lanterns with led candles in, and asked for them to be placed where she thought looked best, throughout the ceremony, foyer and reception room, as i walked down the aisle i realised they had all been dumped either side of the ceremony table. So much effort put in. Nearly all our discounted rooms had trouble checking in, couldn't find their names and had to stand about reception getting sorted, taking time away from the wedding. Then comes dinner, the worst by far. I had several allergies by our guests. The worst being my nephew who was nearly 3, he has a severe dairy allergy and anaphylaxis allergy to egg, we planned our kids meals round him so they all got the same, double checked it multiple times, it was in block capitals on our details sheet, his dinner was brought out (thank heavens for his parents double checking), my brother asked the waiter to double check there wasn't any dairy or egg in the batter.. Returns with "Sorry there is milk in the batter", his dinner got taken away and replaced with a dry chicken breast and chips, no sauce, to which he then choked on! The service was ridiculously slow, None of the waiters knew where the allergies were, even though again on our sheet. The food was terrible and not at all what we had tasted beforehand. Also we were told the bar inside the reception room would be open, but no guests had to go out to the foyer to get their drinks. Again with the allergies and my nephew being airbourne ANAPHYLATIC to egg, my evening buffet arrives with egg sandwiches on, thank god that he had left after his dinner because god only knows what could have happened to him! When my mum rang on the Monday to complain about this the wedding planner replied with "she didn't tell me anything about the evening buffet", sorry I forgot that I needed to tell you that every minute of the wedding needed to be egg free, mindblowing. The evening reception was well underway when the next moment our draping from one of Lamon's vendors collapsed and was hanging down, which apparently none of the staff could fix! My stepdaughter was sat on a chair when the chair collapsed and hit her face off the table. We had our reception room till 1 am, at 12.20am the staff started packing up our room, stacking chairs and taking decor away even though most of my guests were still in the room enjoying themselves. Absolutely disappointed after paying alot of money for our day to be perfect, and it be spoiled because Lamon clearly don't care for their guests!! I have emailed them at the end of June about all this and still haven't had a reply or acknowledgement from them. Absolute disgrace!!

Wedding

We had our wedding here last weekend and with 60% of our guests being from overseas we had a lot of people staying in the hotel over a long weekend. The whole planning process from the moment we booked our wedding right up until the day was perfect, our wedding coordinator Clare went above and beyond for us with anything we wanted or needed and we couldn’t have wished for better. The staff on the day of the wedding were great and made sure the day ran as smoothly as possible. We had Matthew as our master of ceremonies and he was great in making sure everything went to plan accordingly. So many of our guests complimented the rooms, room sizes and also the food. The food was just amazing on both the day of the wedding but also in the bistro when we stayed on the other nights. The venue itself is beautiful, we wanted something more modern vibes and the Ballygowan Suite and foyer was exactly this. I would definitely recommend La Mon as not only a wedding venue but for somewhere to stay on a break away. I had a massage two days after the wedding in the hotel spa and this was just amazing too! Thank you to all the staff at La Mon for everything they did for us x

Not bad hotel.was in August '22 room was OK,but view was not good....3 star only was no chiller in the room was no smart TV.... One think was best is restaurant dinner was delicious thank you to chief 🥰👌Swimming pool was OK but steam room was not good and sauna was not really hot...

Wedding and extended stay with wedding party

Visited in August with about 60 members of the wedding party staying at La Mon for a duration of 4 nights. Upon reading previous negative reviews, I must admit I was rather nervous and apprehensive about La Mon HOWEVER all my concerns were squashed from excellent service, professionalism and personalism provided by Clare Woods (event coordinator) who was amazing! Clare's accessibility, prompt responses and overall management of the planning event put me right at ease. She is an expert at dealing with stressed brides and ensuring no detail is missed out. She responded to emails and calls promptly which was reassuring, she really went out of her way to accommodate our requests for a traditional wedding, and where there things that needed to be changed - she always provided a suitable alternative. There was nothing too much for Clare! Upon arriving at the hotel, my concerns were furthermore squashed - Jean, Evie, Denim and one other lovely lady on reception (whose name has escaped me), the housekeeping team, the night porter, the gentleman tending to the grounds, the kind lady at the breakfast shift made our stay so nice. They were attentive, kind and very accommodating to multiple last minute requests. Their attention to providing customer care such as greeting a rather frustrated guest whose luggage hadn't arrived with an upgraded room, a cup of tea and biscuits, robe and slippers really helped her to relax. In addition, every single communication, request, query was swiftly and kindly attended to. I was so overwhelmed by the staff's kindness. Previous reviews have mentioned lack of restaurant/bar staff, whilst this seemed to be the case, they were clearly working hard to ensure they took orders as quickly as possible and they did all of this with smiles and customer care. Previous reviews have also mentioned a specific lady at reception (Gillian) who a number of the wedding party did have unpleasant experiences with, as did I prior to arriving, however the effort and care from the rest of the staff was so excellent that Gillian's unpleasantness faded into the distance. Now to the wedding! What a fantastic event space. Beautiful and well tended to. A special shout out to the events team - Clare, Megan, Jean, Matt who ensured my day went exactly as planned. THANK YOU! I honestly had the best wedding day I could have imagined and the team were paramount to this experience. My bridal suite was beautiful, luxurious, spacious and clean and I just regret not staying a little longer!
