My wife and I were traveling to visit with family and we booked a night at Windgate. It was a great price, clean room, and professional customer service. We missed the buffet breakfast but the hotel provided packaged meal.
I go to Bismarck every few months for Dr. Appointments and always stay at this Wingate. It is very clean, easy to find, the staff is so helpful. I love the made to order breakfasts, (even though, I usually don't get to enjoy them). I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
Updated hotel with nice rooms. Overall, a good experience and the price I got on this particular weekend was very good. Just two things: the service was OK, nothing special. We went swimming with our little one and there were no towels in what was a pretty packed pool and hot tub area. We asked for towels and someone brought five of them. It was a mad scramble considering there were roughly 10-plus people in the pool area. I think they were behind and they were still drying them. Also, the front desk attendant would put up a sign saying she would be back at a certain time. But it was an old time and hadn't been updated from the last time she did it. It left some customers completely befuddled as to when someone was coming back. 2) It's a shorter window for stay than many other hotels. Check in at 4 p.m. and check out at 11 a.m. A hotel nearby has a 3 p.m. check-in and a noon checkout. Meeting that halfway seems reasonable. Overall, a good experience. I'd stay here again!
Unsanitary breakfast staff
The breakfast staff member I observed during my stay does all manner of things wearing the same single pair of purple foodservice gloves, without changing them: Preparing omelets Wiping his nose Picking up trash Eating food with his hands This is unsanitary and puts guests at risk for illness. This violates all fundamental principles of foodservice hygiene.
We stop at this hotel whenever we go through Bismarck. One of the reasons why if the friendly staff ( the desk clerk helped us unload our car ) to the omelet maker. Alan was so nice when we came down for breakfast. It was 15 mins until they closed down and he made us feel like we had all morning to enjoy our food. He made a wonderful omelet too. Thank you for great send of to the rest of our trip.
