Lovely setting

Individual cabin rooms arranged around a lake made for a wonderful setting. Very comfortable and spacious. Nice, if tired, bathroom but not much water pressure. Don’t drink or brush teeth in the water; the colour will put you off anyway. Use bottled. Dreadful Wi-fi in rooms and not much better in the reception and dining areas. Otherwise a very pleasant place to be. Food and service good.

Beautiful peaceful stay

Very comfortable bed (this is a hit or miss in Myanmar) in a beautifully appointed villa. I especially enjoyed this views over the water during sunrise and sunset. Of course this is not over Inle Lake but the price of accomodation is a lot cheaper compared to an equivalent place on the lake. We enjoyed short trips to the winery at Red Mountain and the Bamboo cooking class at the market nearby. We travelled around by a tuk tuk organised by the hotel. The staff were very polite and attentive.

A change from the now numerous hotels on Inle Lake. Virtually empty when we were there save for groups of local tourists. Evidently built when tourism was expected to take off. Built in a square around a large artificial lake (swan shaped pedalos available), with two rows of bamboo walled bungalows, one row of individual one level types on the lake (with terraces on the lake) and one of two floor multiple room buildings set back behind the first row. Overall a pleasant atmosphere with good views on the surrounding hills especially for sunrise as mist lifts on the lake. Rooms well appointed, with comfortable bedding, but showing signs of age with well used and worn fabrics, and humid. Bathroom standard with rapid need for a refurbishment. Large high ceilinged dining room with extensive outside terrace (ideal for sundowners, and the barman did manage some decent cocktails). Food surprisingly good, especially the Shan stuffed fish (best to order in advance), local choice with also some Western dishes if you really need them. Extensive breakfast buffet with wide choice of fruits, cereals, more Western cooked dishes and local soup. Staff young, reserved, but available and helpful when approached. On the against side, the hotel is a way from the lake and it would take time to get going for speed boating around the lake (which is best done relatively early in the day), but it offers the advantage of being relatively quiet and more restful and a good base to explore the villages and countryside around Inle. You would however need a car to get anywhere if you want for instance to eat out, although the nearest village is not far and offers local eating places, accessible with bikes placed at guest disposal. To note also that the hotel arranges a number of individual discovery tours (from short to day long with an excellent and very original choice and very reasonably priced)

Royal Nadi - a hidden gem!

It's now 2 year ago staying there and I couldn't tell you about Royal Nadi before - because my membership with Tripadvisor is nearly brand new:) Ok, we arrived by bus from Bagan, a bumpy 7 hours trip Royal Nadi's location is outside the city, about 3,5 miles from Nyaung Shwe. No problem at all - you can rent bicycles in the resort or you order a 3 wheeler / taxi. The hotel complex is very special, a reception and the restaurant /bar - the guest rooms are cabins and some buildings around a manmade lake, - just beautiful. The chefs, the waiters and all the food was just perfect, all time ! The same with the housekeeping, the cabins, clean and shining! Start the new day with sitting outside on the terrace by sunrise or with your breakfast. We also have to recommend Royal Nadi Resort - really, it's fantastic :)
