Thanksgiving Picnic
We choose BW Plus Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island, WA because it offered a location so we could get to many locations on the Island with ease. We like to have a Picnic for Thanksgiving and had a great one at Admiralty Head Lighthouse and it was great.
Quiet, very clean and comfortable
The room faced the road but it was very quiet and the bed was so comfy. The check in and out was fast and easy! The hotel was very clean and the hotel staff was very nice. They are building a new pool which looks great when finished!
One Of Oak Harbor's Finest
The Best Western in Oak Harbor may one of the more pricier places to stay in town, but it is a great choice. We were greeted warmly and the check in was fast. Our room was a very nice ground level with a back door to a small "back yard". The room has a lot of things one would except. TV, fridge, microwave, etc. Lots of dresser and closet space. The bathroom was very clean as was the bedroom. Bathroom includes a lot of toiletries and hairdryer. If needed, there is internet access in the lobby. For the times we are in, the breakfast room and choices were great for a grab and go. There is a waffle maker, hot breakfast sandwiches and a lot of the usual fruits, juices, yogurt, etc. They are constructing a pool for future use. The hotel is on the north end of town, but up the road from many restaurants and makes for a quick escape north to Deception Pass. There is a Chinese restaurant in front, but was take-out only and we wanted more of a dining experience. We had some noise come into the room, but for the most part it was quiet times in the room. The beds are fairly comfortable even though at times it felt stiff occasionally. If you're looking for a nice room and experience, the Best Western is a great choice.
Nice hotel. Not a quiet place but clean and nicely remodeled
The good: clean rooms, very nice breakfast - grab n go due to COVID but nice variety, good selection, and plenty of everything. Close to a lot of stores and restaurants. Everyone we meet was very nice from check-in to the people in the breakfast area. The hotel had been remodeled and it was very nice. Check in and check it was easy and quick. The not-so-good: They allow dogs. Good for dog owners, bad for those of us who do not enjoy yapping, barking and howling at all hours. This is an older building so they still have adjoining rooms and you can hear everything from the room next to you. The doors also slam very hard and evidently other guests don't understand how loud it sounds when you're trying to sleep. You also hear the shower and toilet from rooms above you, people walking on the floor above and cars in the parking lot of you're on that side. We expected a working pool because that's what was posted on the hotel website but it was under construction. If we had known that ahead of time, we might have stated somewhere else. It was warm enough to enjoy a pool but we couldn't. That was disappointing to us all. And finally... The beds are extra firm! I know everyone had different comfort levels but wow. Very hard. My husband liked them, the teenager and I were uncomfortable and woke up with sore hips and shoulders. Slightly better than sleeping on the floor but but much. Back sleepers will probably love them. Side sleepers like us may not. Overall, this is a nice place. If we ever did decide to stay there again, I would want a 3rd floor room so I don't have to hear stomping over my head, and I would try to get a non-adjoining room at the end of the hall away from the elevator.
Relaxation
The staff was amazing, rooms where great, really looking to visiting again hopefully the pool will be completed by then. Love the fact the location of the hotel really close to great dinners especially the local ones highly recommend Frank's place dinner it's a local favorite....
