Fantastic
The hotel we made a reservation with double booked our room leaving us stranded however the owner helped us to book at Senorio de Olmillos Hotel despite booking sights suggesting the Hitel was already fully booked which was appreciated. Arriving at Senorio de Olmillos it felt like we were coming into Camelot Castle. It took our breath away. Absolutely amazing. Greeted by friendly staff who helped us with bags and showed us to our room we settled into a smallish but clean and cosy room but came out shortly after for a glass or two of Rose and some local cheese on the drawbridge under the stars which helped us to relax after a challenging few hours. Room rate was on the high side but acceptable when considering the amazing setting and breakfast included which was fresh, varied and abundant. Overall an excellent place to spend a night or two and we would be happy to stay at Senorio de Olmillos Hotel again when we next visit Spain.
Impressive looking hotel, but not quite as good inside
Chose this hotel as it was half way between France and Portugal. The building is certainly impressive, looking like an old castle, and the inside was just as impressive. Unfortunately, the room let it down a bit. There was a HUGE 4-poster bed which took up most of the room. Unfortunately, only 1 side was accessible, the other side being up to the wall, so my wife had to climb down the bed to go to the toilet in the night. The bathroom was medium size, but I can't remember the last time I had a shower in such a small enclosure. There was room in the bathroom to get a larger shower in there, so why didn't they? Turns out there were only 2 couples staying, so it was a bit quiet and lonely - not the hotels fault I should add. The staff didn't speak any English, but I really could not fault the service they provided, and the food was great as well. All in all a nice stay, but the room was a bit disappointing.
Castle converted to hotel
Furniture and some details imitating old time are nice. A king bed is comfortable but occupied the the whole room. I wouldn't give this hotel 4-stars. It' firm 3-star hotel. Bathroom is old, with really small shower, no bidet as almost in every even 2-star hotels, marble counter-top in bathroom is completely worn out. Breakfast is too simple. Wi-Fi doesn't work anywhere in hotel except reception area. It's so inconvenient.
What a Hotel superb
Olmillos the village was shut all the time we were there thought it must be a ghost town except the church bell rang. This hotel is fantastic the inside decor is superb and the rooms was to match you want for nothing in the room. The free wifi did not work but the hotel staff said no problem use the reception computer which i did how nice was that. One thing to note is evening meal there was no staff on it was May so out of season but you need to check just in case. If no still stay there as at the bottom of the road there is a bar and opposite a hotel you can have a meal in there and the food was good, bear in mind you may be eating with truckers as they use it as a stop. Breakfast back in the hotel was good and more than we could eat and they were always asking if you want more.
Fairytale hotel
We came across this hotel after a long drive down from France. It looks like a castle and is architectually interesting. The receptionist and manager could not have been more helpful. The room was large enough, with a king size four poster bed, the furnishings were excellent. The restaurant is classy, the choice & service good, and the portions large. Breakfast came with freshly squeezed orange juice and good service again. Our only criticism would be that the village clock tower bells chime on the quarter hour day and night.
