Fabulous location and the amenities are excellent. A classic motel with all the right features, comfortable room, plenty of space and we enjoyed cooking a meal on the bbq. Great place to use as a base to explore the delightful Hokianga. We will be back.

We stayed here as part of a round trip of Northland. It was an ideal place the break the journey from Kaitaia to Wellsford while providing time to visit Kohukohu, Wairere Boulders and Waipoua Forest. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly.
DO NOT STAY HERE! The owner was verbally abusive & made a violent threat

Due to the outrageous behaviour of the owner I lodged a complaint with the New Zealand Police. The owner admitted to the New Zealand Police that he verbally abused me. He however is now not so keen to engage & denied he threatened me. People who threaten others are often found to be not so courageous at all. MORE REASONS NOT TO STAY AT THIS PROPERTY: 1. As others comment, the walls are paper thin. You can hear guests in adjacent room snoring 2. The hotel displays RULES on the walls of units. Amongst these RULES are: "NOISE CONTROL: Please respect other guests & keep noise levels to a minimum. No parties or loud music please" "VISITORS: To respect our other guests if you have a visitor arriving anytime please advise reception. Visitors cars must be parked outside the motel" The hotel however allowed a large group to gather at the units immediately adjacent to mine. This group carried a large amount of alcohol to their units. They then spent all afternoon on the same verandah adjacent to my room, drinking, in loud conversation. Effectively we were unable to sit outdoors & enjoy any amenity as the noise was overwhelming. At 8pm the noise level was unchanged. Although I asked the owners to take action, there was no reduction in noise 3. The hotel allowed visitor cars to park directly outside our room. These vehicles arrived & departed throughout the afternoon. At 8pm vehicles were still arriving & departing. The greetings, farewells & slamming of car doors completely eroded our privacy & amenity. 4. The door of our 1-Bedroom unit was warped & would not close. Hopeless if you want to close the door so your travelling partner can have undisturbed rest
A very good deal.

We had a roomy lounge kitchen area and a separate bedroom. It's a bit dated but perfectly ok and very clean and tidy. At the price it is a bargain. When we arrived the reception person was not there but she turned up and was very friendly and helpful.

The rooms are dated, but scrupulously clean and have everything you need if you want to self-cater. Host Tagi is awesome, friendly and helpful and has some great stories to tell! We very much enjoyed making her acquaintance 🤗 There is a communal seating area and a separate spa pool area and these both offer privacy and comfort. The grounds are very pretty and well cared for. We stayed only one night, but would be more than happy to make this a base for future trips. Ka kite, Tagi 👍
