O hotel é pequeno mas excelente! Bem localizado perto dos principais pontos turisticos da cidade ideal para desfrutar a cidade de dia e a noite. Funcionarios acolhentes, muito gentis. Preço otimo! Boa limpeza dos quartos.
Disgusting place - DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
We had originally booked to stay in a city centre apartment for our visit to Palermo but unfortunately the day before we were due to fly out we were contacted by the owner who advised that there was a major problem with the plumbing and we would need to cancel. We at once looked for a replacement and came across the Hotel Serena on booking.com for a little bit extra in cost but booking would refund the difference. The photos of the rooms and the hotel itself looked quite nice and all rooms are advertised to have a city view. However just like anyone meeting someone off Tinder for the first time and discovering that your date for night looks nothing like their profile picture you are in for a big surprise. We contacted the hotel and advised we would be arriving at 12 and it was confirmed this was ok and we would not be charged extra. We arrived at 12:15 and after walking over a mile in extremely heavy rain we were pretty wet and just wanting to get into our room and freshened up. The hotel itself is accessible through a door in the street and we rang the bell several times before going upstairs. We were greeted by a female member of staff who just shouted "Passports" at us. We were then told in Italian that we had to wait. An offer of a small towel would have been appreciated at this point. When we did get into our room shortly after we had several orders barked at us and were left in the darkest room we have ever stayed in. We thought we would open the curtains to look at our city view and let some light in. What we found was filthy air conditioning units, rotten clothing and rubbish everywhere. The bathroom was very dirty and the bathroom window would not close so the mozzies had a free buffet. On the first morning we were woken at around 6am by shouting / very loud chatting. We realised this was the staff in reception. This continued for a few hours making it impossible to sleep. We are not lazy people and often work 16 hours a day at home so a lye in past 6am is nice on holiday. The male staff were originally quite nice, if not abrupt but the main female member of staff is very rude. We opened our door to go out on the first day and before even closing our door she shouted goodbye to us. On returning that evening we found our bed had not been made and all they had done was thrown fresh towels in the room. We decided to look for somewhere else and asked if it was possible to check out early. We were advised they were ok with this but Booking would not allow it. We then contacted booking and after a few hours it was sorted that we could leave but the hotel would be charging us an extra day. To be honest we were just happy to leave. When we left the hotel that day before our last evening we were told abruptly they knew we were leaving and they needed a credit card. Being overly caution I said I would pay cash and also asked for a receipt. I would also say that every conversation was in Italian - This is obviously understandable as we are in Italy and we managed to understand but felt like everything was orders being barked at us like we were naughty school children. Not what you expect from the service industry. We are seasoned travelers (Around 5 holidays a year) and have never checked out of a room early except for this one. We are now in a lovely hotel around an hour away in a coastal resort and the service could not be more different. In short the main problems are 1. Cleanliness 2. Staff attitude 3. Value for money The benefits are ...........
Friendly staff, clean, great wifi, central location
The owner, Vincenzo, was very kind. My luggage and my carry-on were lost for 3 days, so his wife went with me to purchase necessities from local stores. We became good friends. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. I was there 32 days. The WiFi was EXCELLENT. I have travelled to Italy many times, and never had good WiFi. I was very pleased! The location was excellent. It was only 2 streets over to the bus stop. There were many restaurants and markets near the hotel. I felt very safe there! It was a small hotel, so it was like being with family.
Good value for money.
I have been in this nice 3 stars hotel for one night. The location is fantastic, just in the middle of Via Roma, heart of Palermo city and only less than 10 minutes away from Central Railway Station. Good cleanliness, good room condition, private bathroom, friendly staff, 24 h reception. I definitely recommend this place. Is a very good value for money and a good spot to enjoy your city tour.
Convenient, comfortable city hotel in Palermo
We stayed two nights at this hotel before returning home. The facilities were sufficient for a city stay in the centre of Palermo, and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was included, but a bit sparse, but I suspect that many people leave early to travel elsewhere and would not need any more. Air conditioning and free Wifi included. The staff were pleasant and helpful and there is someone on 24 hours a day with security measures in place for entry in the evening. The major historical sites were within easy walking distance and there were plenty of bars and places to eat in the evening. I would recommend this hotel and stay again myself. Buses for the city, for other destinations and for the airport are at a convenient distance from the hotel.
