Will Never Stay There Again EVER! Roaches and Bed Bugs!!!!

Me and my husband stayed they for about what I would called the worse # months of my life. Not only the Gm was creepy but Housekeeping cross contaminate when cleaning my bathrooms. Infestation of Roaches and we got Bite but Bed Bugs and we checked out immediately. Please learn from us just because they offer a good price for an extended stay run because it's a trap!!!!! They refuse to pay

I checked in July 29 - 31, 2022 when we checked we were not told there was no housekeeping available doing our stay had to bring towels down daily, empty trash can as well, and phone didn't work maintenance was to come an fix the phone but never shown up in order to call the front desk I had use my cell phone each time when we need somethings, on top of that the door knobs to the bathroom were rusty as hell both door knobs buy Lysol wipes to wipe them down hate touching them, hallway & room had a foul smell also buy carpet fresh & air freshener for our room the carpet need to be replace or a deep shampooing. I don't know how this place pass inspection the water sprinklers in the room was rusty. When down to talk to Manager about the issues with the room guess what no manager is available on the weekend ask for Asst. Manager was not available either was told managers doesn't work on weekend & can't be contacted until Monday, so I left all my complaints with the clerk on duty on Sunday with I checked out and my contact info and still haven't heard anything from the Manager or Asst. Manager.

Low end of the hotel spectrum

Not clean. Someone had cobbled together plastic panels at the registration counter and drilled holes in the granite to attach them. Welcome to Candlewood Suites! How uninviting. My first impression as I walked in was, this isn't going to be good. Outside parking lot was full of cigarette butts. Entryway floor was dirty. The rest of the property was the same. I don't know why IHG allows properties to stay affiliated when they are in this sad state.

Dissappointing and in disrepair

It's hard to say that I would recommend this hotel to anybody because it is in need of so much work. As soon as I arrived, I was checked into a room (I believe it was 302) that did not have a tv and the smell was overwhelmingly like mold, or maybe just terrible stagnant water. On top of this, the bed was obviously concave in shape, showing that it was long past its reasonably usable life. Also, I noticed that the cleaning staff had obviously missed the bathroom tissue that was still shoved in the doors peephole and a dissassemble shower toiletry holder. After speaking with the front desk about this, they moved me to a room that was 2 doors down. As soon as I walked in, I quickly noticed the same moldy smell and, again, the same collapsed and worn out mattress issue that I had seen in the first room. At this point though, I was too tired to deal with moving everything again and decided to deal with it the next day. After speaking with the manager the following day, and after declining his offer to address the issues with that room (I wish I could make this up but his solution with to just spray it with air-freshener while I was out and steal a "better" mattress from another room), he said that he would help to make the situation right by finding me a more suitable room. I was eventually moved down to 312, I believe, and was very happy to see that there was finally no more terrible smell. I wish that I could say that it ended here but, as I was leaving the room for work after the first night, I shut the door and turned the knob to make sure that I closed it all the way. When I tried this, I realized that, with almost no effort, you could easily rotate the door handle almost 360 degrees and the door would open. There was absolutely no way to lock the door. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, I was disappointed to hear his best and only solution was to trust in the security cameras and that he would have it addressed at a later point the day. Because I travel with some fairly expensive electronics (computer, etc.) for work, I tried to express to him that leaving my stuff in my room, without a locking door, made me very worried. When I asked if the hotel could guarantee their safety or replacement if something were to happen while I was gone, his answer was a simple "no". This was the point where I finally realized that this hotel was truly below any reasonable standard that should be upheld by IHG.

Property dealing with room maintenance issues

The bathrooms don't have any exhaust system so the property is dealing with mold issues and related strong chemical smells and generally has some fit and finish issues of a property that hasn't been well maintained. They didn't have the room we had reserved 9 weeks prior but were able to move us the next night, both rooms had issues like the laminate flooring separating from faulty installation, loud a/c units, and multiple issues from mold remediation. Seeing a bunch of black spots peeking through a freshly half-painted ceiling doesn't help you sleep well at night no matter how plush the pillows are. I may just be used to three-star hotels because this two-star hotel just seemed to be punching below it's weight class.
