In general a nice place but the bunk bed broke. The guy above me just turned around in his bed and two of the wooden panels fell down on me. The boss did not bother at all and still made us pay the full price. Being a good manger includes taking measurements in difficult situations too.
Cute hotel with peaceful surroundings

Really nice chill place!! Cute hotel grounds surrounded by nature, super nice staff, perfect place to relax for a bit. I was traveling with a friend I met in a hostel and we did it as an overnight trip from Flores. I think we were not the typical clients here because honestly the prices of food and activities are a little high for that budget, but probably very reasonable for other types of travelers. With that said, everything we ate was super tasty, especially the delicious chocolate cream pie!! We skipped the group tours but did a cute little hike nearby that the hotel recommended and swam in the lagoon, we saw a few other people around but not too many. Overall really nice place if you want a peaceful retreat in your vacation!!
Cave Guide CHALAN is FANTASTIC but other Finca staff are not, unfortunately/Still worth it if you get JOSE ADAN guide

We stayed at Finca Ixobel 7 years ago for 3 nights and did the all-day cave tour and a day of horseback riding. We absolutely loved it, and wanted to return in January. Starting in October, I emailed the hotel at least once a week to make a reservation, but no one answered me! After no response to my email, I used my son's, my husband's, left our phone #, nothing. I figured they were out of business. I did this every week in Oct, Nov, Dec. Nothing. Finally we reserved a room at Casa Don David in El Remate and they personally called Finca because we really wanted to do the cave tour again. After that, a staff member from Finca finally responded to one of the probably 30 emails I wrote, but it was too late, we had made a reservation elsewhere. We decided to go caving at Finca anyway and make the 4-hour round trip drive anyway It is DEFINITELY WORTH THE DRIVE if you get the AMAZING WONDERFUL Chalan as your guide for the cave.
Anyway, the hotel told us by phone that we needed to get to Finca by 8 am for the cave hiking swimming tour, which we did. We ended up having to wait until 9 am to start. The tour ended up being our family of 3, the wonderful Guatemalan guide Chalan (50 ish year old man who looks younger!, black hair and big mustache) and 3 "volunteers" from the hotel, who were OUT OF SHAPE, despite the fact that they were more than 1/2 the age of my husband and me!. Not only did we have to wait for them to start, but they also did not bring headlamps, which you definitely need!. The trip, which we paid for, was free for the volunteers, who actually get free room and board for working 6 easy hours a day, 5 days a week. Anyway, the cave tour was still worth it, our guide was fantastic, but it disturbs us that he had to work 2 extra hours because these 2 young Germans and 1 Brit were SOOOOO slow and out of shape! The trip was normally 6 hours, ours was 8 because they were so slow. Also, when we returned from the hike a RUDE guy working the desk immediately yelled at me saying I needed to pay for banana bread I bought before we left (our money was in the safe at that moment and we were dripping with mud). It was not like we could run away. Anyway. REALLY SAD that some of the workers at this hotel have super easy jobs and treat paying customers like garbage. If you do the cave tour, ask the hotel who is going with you. If "volunteers" go, don't go, unless you are out of shape.
Peaceful. Great food. Extremely helpful staff.

Finca Ixobel is a quiet paradise with many activities, great food and very accommodating staff. The bar is separated for added tranquility. Dorm and suite options are available as well as conference facilities for weddings, etc. I have recommended Finca Ixobel to many travelers, especially those with children. There is a playground and room to run. Set away from Poptun, this is the best place to stay in the area....the ONLY place to chill for a few days.
