Absolutely Loved Our Stay
Avaliou em 3 de Outubro de 2021
Actually got to check in early!!!! Dennis checked us in and had us in our room in no time. Slightly disappointed that our room was on the first floor but the entire resort was booked, supposedly. The location of our first floor villa was perfect, quiet, and tucked away. You need to be careful of their first floor rooms as many are quite close to the parking lot and therefore could be noisy. One in particular, 6116, patio overlooks the parking lot, patio, sidewalk, parking lot. We had the smaller villa and it was fine for 2 people. As you walk in first thing you notice is the living area with NO windows so a light or two is the first thing you will reach for. In the hall closet is the washer/dryer, a small kitchen with a 2 burner stove, microwave, and fridge with an ice maker. Table with 4 chairs, pullout couch and a chair to relax and watch tv. The bedroom has a king size bed which was comfortable with 4 king size pillows. The bedroom has a patio/balcony off it and a window that kind of lights up the living area as well. The bathroom is a nice size with sink, toilet and shower/tub. The tub also has jets in it for a relaxing soaking after hiking but beware getting in and out of the tub is quite difficult as it has very high walls. Our particular unit was very quiet as no one was on one side and thankfully our neighbors who have an adjoining room, we never heard through the door. Heard a door shut like once and the people above were not heavy footed except when shutting the sliding glass door, that sounded like they were coming through the wall. Would have given this a 5 star rating but as I was making this villa our home for a week’s stay, my bare feet were no longer clean but quite gray/black. The tile was clean but the carpeted area, I believe made my feet look pretty disgusting. The landscaping is tasteful and well manicured. The relaxation pool is adult only and open 24 hours. The family pool has a slide for the kids, games periodically for all alike, music, etc. There is also a kiddy pool for small toddlers. The family pool closed at 7 pm. All the lounge chairs are cushioned and the pool towels are a nice quality and size, absorbent. The only downfall for the chairs are their color as they absorb the AZ heat, they are brown. You will need towels to spread out to keep the heat from feeling like it is burning you. You will need your key to get into all pools as they are gated. There is beverage and food service at the pool as well as a restaurant/bar near the relaxation pool. The Westin hotel is close either by their shuttle bus or by foot. We were allowed to go to their pools too. Also close is the Kierland Commons where you can shop and find a bite to eat. Found the location for the villas convenient for gas, food, and entertainment. Absolutely loved our stay.
Amazing Family Trip

Such a blast and so relaxing. So many fun activities by the pool throughout the day for everyone to enjoy. Staff were super fun and friendly. Favorite activities we were able to join was the trivia, football 500, bean bag toss, and couldn’t keep the kids and the adult kid off the slide. Happy family and happy mama :) Wish we could have stayed longer!
Great stay in Scottsdale

Great property that is kept up well. The staff from check-in on were friendly and helpful. The property is very clean and amenities are easy to access and use. Great for families or for couples, there is room for both.
We did experience a couple scorpions in the room so I would suggest at least a second floor room to lessen the chance you will experience this also.
Lots of restaurants and shopping is nearby and access to major highways is easy.
Definitely recommend and would return.
Where has the Wine Tastings Gone?

I was happy to return to my home-away-from- home, only to find one of my main reasons for returning has gone! Although advertised as an on-site activity, the Monday night wine tastings and Wednesday night wine dinners are no more (as of now-thanks COVID)! I get that changes were made due to the pandemic. But to stop the wine functions indefinitely is lunacy!
I’ve been coming to the Kierland Villas for 15 years, and have enjoyed this special treat, which could not be found at any other Westin/Marriott location. Sure, we can get the same great amenities in the villas’ rooms, and the fantastic hospitality from the staff. But Tony Miller, and his vast knowledge of unobtainable wines has kept me, and so many others coming back for more.
If we cannot get this here, where shall we find it?!?
Sometimes, change is just not necessary.
Decent Resort - Resort Guests Ruin the Place
Avaliou em 21 de Agosto de 2021
Me, my spouse and my son stayed at the Westin Kierland Villas from Aug 1-Aug 6 for a vacation after the ATA World Championship Tournament. We stayed in room 1310, a one-bedroom villa, with a separate bedroom, kitchen (with microwave, table top oven, full-fridge, dishwasher, dishes, silverware, etc.), a bathroom with small whirlpool tub and separate shower, living room with large flat screen TV, DVD player, sound bar, fireplace, and full sofabed. The washer/dryer in the room is extremely loud. There was also a balcony with an obstructed view of the relaxation pool. Be sure to bring mosquito repellent if you are going to spend anytime on the balcony. I got eaten alive by mosquitos while on the balcony. Didn’t know until I got home and started itching like crazy.
The room was nice and cozy but boy was it noisy. You get no rest here. There is a family pool and a relaxation pool that is open 24/7. The family pool is great for kids; there is a volleyball net and a fun water slide. This pool is not open 24/7. The relaxation pool is nice because it’s nice to be able to go for a swim anytime, but there is no one there to watch guests or keep order. Guests go down there at all hours of the night and get loud, drunk, and noisy. We could hear it from our room every night. So annoying. We went down there only one time during our stay and guests were there drinking liquor and being obnoxious. One couple with two kids kept throwing things into the pool for their kids to grab. They took over half the pool - like they owned it. That drove us out of the pool and we went back to the room never to return. Every night after hearing loud noises from the pool I would look out the bedroom window and see people throwing balls, and going crazy with no supervision. It’s hard to enjoy a vacation when people don’t know how to behave. Guests come in and act like they own the place. It’s not a vacation when you have to complain all the time. Every night there were doors slamming constantly - for hours. There was constant noise. My spouse complained one night about the noise and the slamming but it didn’t stop. The next morning I heard what sounded like hammering right over my head in the master bedroom. I had no choice but to call and complain. The person I spoke to acted like she didn’t understand what I was saying and asked me where the noise was coming from and I told her. That night there was more door slamming. Ridiculous.
When we arrived at the resort the shuttle service took us to the villas when our Lyft driver dropped us off at the wrong part of the resort by mistake. The shuttle is nice because the drivers are nice and upon request will drop you off at a local grocery store at a nearby strip mall, and the Kierland Commons where there are restaurants and places to shop. You can request to be dropped off at the Walgreens at the strip mall or the restaurants at the Kierland Commons. The shuttle drivers will also drop you off at the other resort to enjoy the lazy river and other pools. There is also a water slide on this side of the resort. Tip: get too this side early (9am or earlier) or after 3pm to have a chance to get the best seats in the shade. Unfortunately, resort guests move the lounge chairs and shades around to wherever they want and block the walkway - so rude. On top of this guests bring every kind of float toy they can find into the pool. They leave floaters everywhere and bring all kinds of toys with them. The resort needs to put the kabash on allowing people to bring all this stuff into the resort pools. It’s a nuisance. There were so many rude, obnoxious and annoying people here during our stay, but what can you do? Be sure to bring $ for tipping the drivers as they are friendly and work hard in extreme heat. You can get ice water and towels without charge but other drinks run $15+ each. The food is on this side was not very good. The chicken wrap was a huge disappointment The Kids’ club was closed due to COVID. The resort should also make sure there is someone at the front desk for guests. I went there and it was empty. Where is the customer service?
I would like to say there was a nice young man at the Villas kids pool. I think his name was Cameron. He was very nice and played ball with the kids. I think his last day was August 5th. They need more staff members like him - people who enjoy their work and show it. We did not do the timeshare thing as the people in the lobby in charge of that looked so mean and unapproachable. They were not friendly.
This is decent resort but would be so much better if there was no Riff-raff. I wish they could find a way to control rude and disorderly guests. If there was a better class of people staying here I would come back. It’s too bad the guests bring the place down.
