Wilkes-Barre Staple

Very bizarre layout for a hotel. We were in room 408 which was on the 2nd floor of the tower. Definitely some decor and thermostats from the 1970s. TVs are very small, and ours said it was analog. Toilet didn't flush very well and the room connecting to our sounded like a domestic dispute was happening in the middle of the night. However, parking is plentiful and easy and it is nice to have the restaurants attached. Unless you're in the area for the casino, there isn't much to do.

Stay at your own risk

My husband and I were booked for an extended stay but we didn’t make it more than 3 days - and that was even too long. It was a nightmare from check-in to check-out. Our room and hotel was nothing like what we agreed on or saw on the hotel website upon booking. The room had a horrible mildew/moldy odor, the carpets were disgusting and the AC was broken. We also had an adjoining door to the room next to us that was never disclosed to us. Due to the length of time we were supposed to stay there, we requested a room change at their earliest convenience. We were told the entire hotel was booked and they would get back to us. On our third day here, there was a domestic violence assault in the adjoining room to us resulting in a call to 911 and multiple police offers. The paper thin walls caused us to hear everything which was truly a horrifying experience. We requested the front desk place us in a new room for the night as we didn’t feel safe staying in our current room. In the process of changing rooms, we found out the hotel was not in fact booked up and there were many other room choices we could have been living in for our long term stay - way nicer, cleaner, more updated rooms without adjoining doors. We were also informed it’s a pretty common occurrence for cops to be called to this hotel and it really isn’t a safe place to stay. Long story short - we checked out at 5am the next morning with no where to go but that was better than staying another minute in that hotel. I don’t think my husband or I have ever packed so fast. We would definitely not recommend staying here under any circumstances.

Dated and decrepit.

A visit to 1970. Rooms run down. Wallpaper peeling from walls. Carpet filthy - stained and simply dirty. Toilet paper dispenser falling off wall. Ceilings dirty and cracked. And the view of the creek - find the window. View unit through small door. We left. Wouldn’t stay here.

Clean but noisy hotel

My husband and I stayed here for one Saturday night. Location was great, close to the casino and shopping. Our room was clean and comfortable, BUT it was in the main hallway where all the traffic flow was. All hours of the night we would hear people walking through the hall loudly talking and laughing. The walls are very thin and we could also hear our neighbors. We also had a parking lot view and the mini blinds let light in from the parking lot lights. Front desk CSR was unwelcoming at checkin, but the checkout CSR was very nice and concerned about our stay. My advice would be to take ear plugs and a mask to sleep!

A trip back in time

I enjoyed exploring the many hallways, the mix of nature and a 70's vibe. Lobby is dated and clean. Someone went the extra mile to decorate for Halloween. Decor and architecture are 70's with an Asian vibe. I was surprised by the natural setting outside, paths, lawns, creek, woods. The lawn is built over the creek side rooms. The hotel wasn't busy on a weeknight which made it more fun to explore. The restaurant between the bar and Japanese steak house was casual, comfortable and multi leveled. Service was good, food was good and beer selection was good. On weekday mornings they offer a free continental breakfast in restaurant. Looks like it could be busy on weekends with outdoor bars, a nightclub and ballrooms. There is also a tower portion of the hotel. The room I had was small but comfortable. Bathroom fixtures dated but worked well. Great shower. I enjoyed stay and would like to bring my wife some weekend.
