Not worth it

Decided to stay here to split up the trip back home because it was cheap. Booked through a third party and still had to pay an extra $100 at the front desk, not sure if that’s the hotel’s fault or third-party’s site. At the end of the day, I’m out $215 on a room I was promised I’d spend $115 on. I’m not sure who’s fault it is but I’m disappointed. The hotel smells like a fraternity house and is very outdated. Our room is not good. The appliances are outdated, cabinets are scratched, plates/bowls/cups/utensils are not provided in each room and you have to ask for them. The toilet flush doesn’t work properly and there are several permanent stains in our room. The staff is nice though and the A/C worked. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here - spend the extra money and stay somewhere that feels like a $200 per night experience and not here. I won’t edit my review until I have an explanation about why I was overcharged for a less than mediocre hotel circumstance.
Horrible and Unsafe

We sorely regret choosing Extended Stay America for our temporary residence while house hunting. This is not a hotel; it is a flophouse. The hotel common areas smell and are not clean. Only half of the washers and dryers work. They are expensive ($2.50/load washers and dryers) dirty and small, and often don’t do the job in one cycle. When I asked about the broken machines, I was told to call the 800 number on the machine and deal with a third party. I have started driving to a different neighborhood to do our laundry at a laundromat because the facilities here are so terrible. Our room was dingy and furnished with foul, cheap office chairs that looked like someone had spilled cottage cheese on the seats. Other furniture is upholstered in vinyl, like a nursing home. Water pressure is weak. Toilet clogs repeatedly. We recently lost hot water (it is now back on, but what hotel loses hot water?) We opted to decline housekeeping and clean our suite ourselves. When we asked about fresh linens, we were told to bag up our linens and bring them to the front desk for new ones. I did this and was told that “all” of the linens were in the washers, and to come back after 330pm. It is hard to believe that even single king sheet set was in the washing machines. It was then we also started washing our own sheets to avoid these reindeer games. I also purchased a mattress protector, because I found just a rectangle of what looks like thin batting under the fitted sheet, and it didn’t even cover the whole mattress. Some landscaping genius filled the beds all around the sides and back of the property with large rocks that people will repeatedly use to prop the doors open, which breaches the safety and security of people who are inside. The back of the property of poorly lit and surrounded with thick bushes and shadows. While bringing in groceries one evening, I was briskly approached by a man on a bicycle who got right in my space and offered to “hold the door” for me, then followed right behind me into the building. No idea if he is even staying at this property. Another evening, a man approached me while I was unloading my car in the parking lot and asked me if I knew anyone who had drugs. We are in Plano, in what we thought was a decent area, and yet we do not feel safe entering or exiting this property at night. We were woken at 330am on a Wednesday morning by someone’s music blasting. We have gone through an innumerable number of key cards that just magically lose their ability to open external and room doors. This compounds the feeling of a lack of safety, especially when one has to walk all the way around the dark property to the front door of the back door will not respond to the key. This building is clearly in decline and the owner does the bare minimum. The interior of the property is dingy, odorous and grimy. The stairwells reek of garbage. Guests with dogs leave piles of dog feces on the grass behind the property, which bakes in the sun and smells incredible. Never again. This has been an expensive mistake. You’ve been warned.

Very friendly and professional staff. They know me by name. Very impressed by that and it matters. Manager Andrew is on top of things - not that there are any issues because there aren't. Front desk and maintenance staff always say hello and ask how I'm doing. There is another hotel next door that I looked into but they were not as welcoming so I choose to stay here. I would recommend this ESA location to everyone.
Second day in a row with cold shower

Today was the second day in a row of not having hot water in my room. (This was in the same bathroom that drains water from the overhead light and fan exhaust vent during heavy rains, so maybe my expectation are too high.) When I went to the front desk to complain there was a "we're away helping another guest" notice posted. While I waiting for the staff's return the phone rang and the staffer emerged from the back office to answer it. Guess they weren't busy helping other guests after all.

My daughter and I are in between Apts right now. The staff here is friendly, kind and professional. They will go out of their way to help if they can! The hallways smell clean, the rooms are clean and look professional. The pool is clean and we love the breakfast on the go option! The new Manager Andrew has worked really hard to get this place back to pre-Covid and better! It can be a home away from home! It’s near a large Mall and close to shopping centers! It’s a good place to stay!
