The hotel was clean and comfortable, with no weird smells or stains anywhere that I could see on the linens. The room I was in (King Suite) was a comfortable size, offering up two TVs and a sitting area. The desk space for work was appreciated and was plenty large without feeling like you were cooped up or cramped. The parking lot is well lit and the area seemed safe enough. The front desk staff were very nice as well. A few extra amenities for a longer stay would have been nice, as there was no safe in my room and the mini-fridge was especially mini. Housekeeping did a great job every time they came and I always had clean towels and linens. This is more of an issue with the area than with the hotel itself, but food options are limited unless you get delivery or drive. Uber/Lyft in this area is either unreliable or expensive so it may not be the best option if you don't have a car to drive in. Overall it's a great place to stay for short-to-medium length travel, although extended stay may want to consider something like a Residence Inn.
Not what I would expect from a Fairfield Inn

Hotel was clean and staff was nice, but I soon as we stepped foot in the hotel in smelled like sewage. Pool was freezing cold so kids couldn't enjoy it and hot tub was luke warm. Breakfast was average again expecting better from a Fairfield Inn.
Marriott should do better

Marriott is going downhill fast. We used to like Marriott but they just don’t care and their customer service is terrible. Not great hotels with bad customer service is a bad combination :( Plus they don’t give you back your points when they mess stuff up.

I booked and paid a hotel room tonight at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott-Pontoon Beach. When I was walking in I saw a sign that said can not book to someone within 50 miles. I provided my ID and debit card for the hold fee. The front desk agent Paula states I can not check in due to my address on my id being Florissant,MO. I attempted to explain I just moved and have not gotten my new id. She explains it does not matter she has to go by the address on the id. My girlfriend said if there was a way she could put it in her name. She said yes I explained how would that work if I paid for the reservation. Paula said I have to call who I booked the hotel with. I first called Marriott customer service and they said there was nothing they could do because I didn’t book through them. Since I used the Hopper App I chatted with someone who then got in touch with Marriott and switched the name to my girlfriend. While we were waiting, a woman checking in asked about the sign. Paula answered it was due to COVID. Mind you NO ONE had a mask on not even Paula. So if COVID is such an issue then why wouldn’t she be wearing a mask? My opinion is because this hotel and others in the area do not want people from St. Louis booking rooms with them. This issue is discriminatory to me. I’ve booked hotels all the time and never ran into this issue. What if I wasn’t with my girlfriend? I would have had to sleep in my car or drive 6 hrs home. This situation should have NEVER happen.

We love staying in Pontoon Beach when visiting STL. This was the first time staying at the Fairfield Inn, but it will not be the last. It’s newer, so it is very updated. We love the keyless entry option. The rooms were clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We heard little noise while we were inside our room. It was great!
