Anniversary trip

Avaliou em 26 de setembro de 2022

We had a wonderful stay as always. Staff or friendly and helpful. Management go out of their way to assist when needed. We stayed for our anniversary as we got married at the hotel. Facilities are clean and tidy.

The room was nothing like the pics on website. everything was old. we booked as a couple in a family room but was given one towel. kitchen cupboards were untidy and aircon remote was broken and taped up. it did not work properly. the sliding door does not lock

It's a beautiful hotel, great service.. A bit too far from the beach. Rooms very specious. Not all TV channels worked.. Great views. Great service at reception. Very safe. Very close to other fun areas around

A short notice booking

Avaliou em 1 de junho de 2022

We booked short notice for only 1 night only as we were on a business trip and didnt want to drive back home at night, Got a sea facing room with lovely views of the Estuary and Ocean. Safe Parking, Food was divine, the Dinner & Breakfast buffet is out of this world, wide selection of different foods. Great Value for money. 7km from Wild Coast Casino, Definitely going back for a full weekend.

I have to seriously reconsider returning....

I have a few issues I need to bring to your attention. I will have to think hard about whether to post this on tripadvisor or not. I feel traveller's need to make a informed decision before visiting your establishment. 1st I have been a guest at the estuary since 2013 and I have been more then happy to return each and every time. Since covid it's been 2 and half years since I have been to the south coast and from all the places I could have stayed I chose the estuary as it was my 11th wedding anniversary. It was a special occasion to be celebrated at a special place. It was by far not special. Below are some of the urgent issues i feel need to be addressed. Prior to checkin I queried the water situation at your establishment. Even on checkin I asked about the water. I was told u guys did have water. On checkin I was informed not to drink the tap water, that 2 bottles of water where provided in the room and if we needed more it could be obtained from house keeping at no additional charge. When I go to bath I notice the water is brown in colour and on reading the posted notice that there is a water shortage and estuary is providing their guests water from their own resevoir of which it may be brown in colour. As a guest I was personally very upset at the lack of transparency on the part of the reception staff and estuary as an establishment. Prior to checkin I should have been informed of this so I could personally decide if I would be comfortable bathing in brown water.  I understand been from kzn that is a water shortage but in my area the water from the tap is clear. I felt so dirty bathing and unclean during the duration of my stay.  But as a guest I should have been informed of the situation so I could make a informed decision for myself. 2ndly I stayed in a lagoon facing room at a rate of R1950per night for a couple including dinner and breakfast for 1 night.  On checkin we queried if we decided to stay at additional night of the rate with breakfast and were told R995.00 per couple per night.  I don't understand how your pricing works. U guys have advertised R1750 per couple on a minimum 2 night stay including breakfast and dinner. On checkout I was advised I was misquoted the price for my additional night stay and owed R30 more. This left a bad aftertaste, yes its only R30 but how can such an error occur. First thing on the morning of our 2nd day stay before breakfast we went to reception and did a card swipe for the full amount we owed of R995 for our additional night stay. 3rdly the dinner was included in my original package stay. The Sunday dinner buffet was so limited. On querying with a waitress what the normal dinner pricing per head was for the buffet I was informed it was R250 per person. We don't eat beef and that was the only curry on offer. When u cater for guests at least try and cater for everyone's taste. You guys have quiet a few indian guests and majority of hindu guests don't eat beef or pork. This should be taken into consideration. Also the establishment knows there is a water shortage and guests cannot consume tap water, yet u guys are charging R28 per a bottle of water. U give free bottle water to hotel guests in their rooms but at the restaurant these same hotel guests have to pay R28 per 1 litre bottle of water. That's robbery. Fourthly on the morning we were due to checkout, we were only 1 of two couples at breakfast. I understand that under these circumstances a breakfast buffet is not feasible. We were told to order from a menu sheet.  The portions were so small I left hungry. We requested muffin and scones on the request sheet and these were never brought to the table.  My fifth point brings me to the maintenance of my room 201 lagoon facing. I suggest u take a walk down to that room dear sir/ma'am and tell me if u would pay R1950 per night to occupy that room. My husband's outbuildings are in a better condition then that room. The toilet leaked on checkin, we called and reported to reception and had to wait for maintenance to come and have it fixed. My point been did house keeping on flushing the toilet during their cleaning of the room not notice the amount of water on the floor, or did they choose to ignore it. My dear sir/madam these post covid times are difficult for consumers. Money is hard to come by, some consumers are better off then others and when choosing establishments we look for value for money. The estuary I am saddened to say no longer offers this. I am heart sore that I will have to think very hard in future of returning as this holiday was a real eye opener for me.  As a loyal customer my business was not at all appreciated. Hope this email serves to wake u guys up to the reality of what u are truly offering your clientele.
