Great location opposite the beach, Bowling Club next door and an easy 10 minute walk into 'town' to any number of restaurants. Pleasant check in, plenty of information given about dining, walks etc. Stayed in an apartment on the 4th floor which was perfect - great view to the beach (and above street lights at night). The apartment had French doors which when opened all the way made for a very impressive kitchen/lounge/balcony setup. We ate on the balcony one night - seafood, wine & view and enjoyed all. Wi-Fi was a good speed and reliable. Bed was very good, bathroom also very good and the kitchen had plenty of utensils for self catering. There was also a dishwasher and access to laundry very close by. Underground secure parking was also handy, even though we walked just about everywhere.

Great location, fabulous views, birdsong in the mornings. 5-10 minute walk to town. Cafe and restaurant nearby. Scampies however closed. For something similar go to town and try Bills. Clean room was spacious and had everything you could need. Kitchen, laundry- amazing. We self catered for breakfast. Highly recommend the Obseratory Mantra It is well maintained but showing some aging (aren’t we all).

Observations on a One Night Stay

My wife and I had a one night stay on a trip from Sydney to Brisbane and picked the Mantra on it's location away from the centre of town and a king room for the ocean views. We were on the 2nd floor and the view across the park to the Pacific (during the day) was probably the best part of of the hotel aside from the friendly and helpful staff at reception. Unfortunately the min-bar fridge compressor in our room ran 24/7 and is very, very loud at night. Combined with the noisy mechanical ventilation in the bathroom, these drowned out the sound of the crashing waves coming in through the louvred front windows! Perhaps being a bit more noise sensitive than other people, we both had a rough night. Also being opposite a park there is street lighting on all night, so whilst there are roller blinds to block out most of the light, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a balcony with ocean views. The undercover parking is useful, but just be aware that the spaces aren't very wide/long so it was pretty tight even with our mid-sized SUV. For just over $300/night the room and hallways are looking pretty tired and banged up and the room feels as small as advertised at 25sqm. If we ever stay in Port Macquarie again we'll be looking for alternative accommodation that hopefully offers better value for money.

Special mention to the front desk ladies Melissa and Emma Lee. Melissa, and the other young lady, were very friendly and helpful throughout our whole stay. Emmalee was able to provide extra information for our next destination. Also special mention to the very friendly cleaners.

Happy stay with the wife at Mantra The Observatory. Convenient to restaurants and cafes and just over road to Town Beach Great bed and outlook. Very clean and comfortable to stay. Indoor pool and spa were excellent! Recommend highly to anyone contemplating a stay in Port Macquarie NSW
