Room with a view.
We paid slightly more for a sea view room with a balcony and we were so pleased we did. We received a very warm welcome on arrival, the hotel is basic but very clean, tidy and the staff were all very helpful and accommodating. Due to the tranquil nature of the town we spent quite a bit of time sat on the balcony relaxing with a glass of wine so the fridge in the room was very welcome. The hotel is right on the harbour so is in walking distance from many cafe's bars and restaurants. There is also a cafe/bar within the hotel. The breakfast was very nice and well stocked, a combination of hot and cold food. My husband is a vegetarian and he was well catered for. We hired a car to travel around, whilst there isn't any parking directly at the hotel there was a carpark only a few meters away and we always found a space. I would recommend as somewhere to relax.
Panoramic Picturesque View!
Just returned from almost 2 weeks at the Panorama Hotel in Portoscuso. Having lived around Cagliari my husband suggested we explore this part of Sardinia. There are lovely beaches just a short drive away. This is not a touristy area for British, we only overheard 2 other english speaking couples where we were. When eating out at one of the few restaurants nearby we managed to order by translating the italian menus on our phones! The best pub by far was Byron Bay. The restaurants we thought best for food was Restaurant/Pizzaria Nautilus, the manager couldn't do enough for us, we were trying our best at speaking Italian and he was lovely. The place was very clean and a wide variety of food on the menu - great. The Restaurante Sa Musciara had small portions and not great service, the waitress forgot things we asked for and it was a long wait. Al Ristorantino was good for pizzas, tasty toppings but hard to cut and overcooked bases on one occasion, so it was hard to cut! The takeaway along the front overlooking the harbour near Byron Bay was good for pizzas too. We hardly had breakfasts at the hotel as we weren't impressed, you had to ask for milk for your cereal as it wasn't put out, the bread slices were tiny to toast, there was no flavoured yoghurt just plain pots of it. The juices were usually empty if we went into breakfast about 9am. It finished at 9.30 so you would still expect to be able to have a choice of pastries and cakes which we discovered one morning having gone to breakfast at 8.30! So most of the time we got our own breakfast in our room, tins of fruit, croissants, and having the fridge in the room was great. We took our own kettle and coffee. The shower cubicle was a bit tight and as it was a rain shower head I had trouble keeping my hair dry! Reading TA reviews we asked for a high room and were on level 4 so it was quieter but as the street is below you do hear a bit of noise. The cleaning service was good and bed comfy so we thought the overall charge for the room was good value with the lovely harbour view. We especially liked Guiseppe on reception as he spoke good english and was very helpful. The one thing that let it down was the very poor Wifi: we had to use our 4g data all the time as the only area in the hotel to get a wifi signal was in the small reception lounge, someone was making a facetime call once and we couldn't get on the wifi!
View over the port
The room was comfortable, bathroom also. It was very clean. Wifi worked good. Staff very helpful and nice. Wonderful view over the port and the sea and even a little of the town. It could be parasol on the balcony and even on the terrace close to the bar. But it was not possible to sit there in the sun and it was pity because the view is fantastic from there. One more thing, it is not the hotel's fault, but - I would not recommend this hotel for them who not like lively evenings and nights with the music that starts at 10 o'clock in the evening, is really loud because it is in the square in the center, and ends maybe 2 at morning. Maybe it is only during the summer but not other periods, I don't know. Due the music at night I could therefore not to sleep good and relax properly so I was actually very tired after this stay at this otherwise good comfortable hotel.
3 night stay
Nice and clean room with big balcony and sea view. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Perfect location, bars and restaurants just on the corner. Free parking area close to the hotel
A Great View to Wake Up To!!
My choir group and I spent five nights at this hotel in August. It is very conveniently located by the harbour and town. So it was very easy to go for walks to the beaches close by or little shops. It is not a luxury hotel so if that is what you are looking for - not for you. However, if you are willing to lower you expectations, this fine hotel will do the job for you. There is free wi-fi, but it was very slow at certain times of the day. The hotel staff was very friendly and always willing to help find locations in the town for whatever you might be looking for. Breakfast was simple but good. You can buy water and drinks from the lobby. Air conditioning in the room worked well and was fantastic as far as I am concerned. There was an elevator, but it was old and to use it was a bit of an adventure, so I always used the stairs. I just enjoyed going out onto my balcony - ask for a room on the harbour side. Early morning there was a nice breeze and the view was fantastic. Very hot and sunny during the afternoon, but in the evening it was nice again to view all of the activity that went on into the night.
