Very Disappointing Experience
Having stayed at a number of SpringHill Suites, we fully expected a good experience. We were sorely disappointed. First of all, this hotel is right next to the Interstate so expect a noisy stay. It is also not located in a good part of town. There is a strong odor of natural gas in the lobby. And the smell in the bathroom is of moth balls. Maintenance is poor with dirty foot rests and the shower spray not fully attached to the wall. This hotel does not live up to the Marriott brand.
Beware!!!
One of the less favorable hotel stays that I can recall. We do a lot of traveling, and having recently stayed in an absolutely lovely SpringHill Suites in Loveland, Colorado, I thought surely this one would live up to the same spectacular standards as before—was I ever wrong. It serves me right for not reading the reviews on trip advisor instead of booking directly through the Marriott site. Stay away!!! To start—it’s located in a terrible area of town. Upon walking in, the room did not feel clean at all, couch was heavily stained as was the carpet, and there was hair all over the bath tub ledge when we arrived. People were walking down the hallways at literally all hours of the night, and someone right next to us was talking loudly while blaring the tv—I had requested a high floor to specifically be removed from the noise, and it felt like they located the entire concentration of hotel guests in one area. One pro, the beds were very comfortable. Wish I’d been able to get some sleep. It would be advisable to choose a different hotel.
Avoid this hotel
We were incredibly disappointed that this particular hotel did not live up to Marriott brand standards in any way, shape, or form. We checked in last night around midnight. Upon opening our room, we were immediately met with the strong oder of sewage. The room was also incredibly dirty. The couch was HEAVILY stained, there was hair and dirt/dust all over the alarm clock/phone charger, the bathroom tile was cracked and mildewed, and the bathroom wall had dark black stains next to the shower. On top of all this, we went to turn on the floor lamp and it fell over leaving shards of glass all over the floor. Turns out the base weight was cracked and whoever cleaned the room just stacked the base weight and placed the lamp over it to cover it up, leaving it unsteady and ready for an accident. We called down to the front desk and requested a different room. Our original reservation was for 2 queens, but all they had left was a king with a sleeper. We moved all our stuff to a new room which smelled heavily of cigarettes despite the hotel’s no smoking policy. The couch in this room was also heavily stained. On top of all this we heard 2 gunshots at 12:20am and 1 more at 12:48am 12:49am, 1:29am, 1:30am respectively. We also did not feel this hotel was taking adequate Covid precautions. Guests were not wearing masks despite signage and there was no hand sanitizer at the front desk even though I was asked to sign a form with a dirty pen at check in. Keep driving!
Worst customer service ever, don't waste your money
Booked room 2 wks in advance after calling to check on COVID19 regs and pool availability for my sons bday. Called 4x before check in to confirm pool was open and get early check in to set up my son's birthday sleepover. It was just for him, his sister, and two cousins. Called day of check in around 11am because they said no problem for early check in, call day of to get a time. Nothing was available for early check in so they said they would call me when they had a room ready. I told them I lived five min away and only needed an hour. Keep in mind I have had 3 other birthday sleepovers there in the past 3 years. I called a couple hours later to see if there a as a room ready. They told me no AND They CANCELLED MY RESERVATION, 1 hr before check in because I am local. They NEVER CALLED ME to let me know THEY CANCELLED MY RESERVATION. When I Sked what would have happened if I showed up for my reservation without calling, she said she would have told me then my reservation was cancelled! Said it was policy and I asked where it was posted. They said they didn't have to post it. I called the property 5 TIMES to check for regulations and request early check in! Never was told they couldn't honor my reservation. When I asked ASHLEY, one of the managers, what I was supposed to tell my son about his birthday she said it wasn't her problem and they don't allow birthday parties anyway. She REFUSED to let me speak to her manager, saying her manager would tell me the same thing. Called hotel manager on Monday. KRISTEN the hotel manager told me they didn't realize until I called that I was local. I told her that was not true since I told the people I spoke to EACH TIME I CALLED that it was for my son's birthday and I lived 5 min away. She said it was their policy that Pueblo County residents could not book a room and birthdays were not allowed. I asked where the policy was posted because it is not on tge website or posted on the property (I went and checked). She said it wasn't but employees know and she doesn't have to post it. I said but I'm not an employee so how would I KNOW? She said she would address it with the employees but she wouldn't honor my reservation. I asked CAN'T OR WON'T? She said WON'T. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she REFUSED, telling me the conversation was over. I asked who owned the hotel. Sje said she didn't have to tell me, I could call Marriott and ask them, repeated the conversation was over and HUNG UP ON ME! I have never seen worse customer service!
Unsafe and unrepentant!!
We booked a room at this Marriott room with the expectation that a large chain would take extraordinary cleaning measures to ensure customer protection from COVID. Imagine our disgust and dismay when we checked into our room and found the following. The toilet was running loudly which was noticeable the minute the room door opened. We entered the bathroom expecting to jiggle the handle but instead found that trash, including a mask, had been dumped into the toilet tank. Either the prior guest dumped the trash in and the maid did not clean the bathroom since the running toilet was loud and obvious or the maid herself did it. In either case, this was horrible. The hotel refused to give us a new clean room. The maintenance man who came to fix (clean out) the toilet said there was cigarette trash in the tank too. When we turned down the bed covering, it looked like that the sheets were not clean. We called down for clean linens and were only provided with fresh sheets, not pillowcases. The night front desk clerk assured us that she would report these issues and her manager would “make it right”. The manager’s response 3 days later was: “ While I apologize that you did not enjoy your stay, we are not offering any compensation or reimbursement. “ We are currently quarantining at home and hoping we are not COVID positive now but these issues are not acceptable in any hotel stay ever.
