I have stayed at the Costa Club at least 7 times. It has changed so much at least toward gringos.Almost all signage only has Spanish which I cannot read. The food is thrown together and not good. The resort staff cannot be beat, friendly and very acomodateing. On our last day we had 12pm checkout that's fine but our plane isn't till 19:45.The would not let us hang around the pool or beach, wrist bands cut off and it is not their problem if flight is later We arrived 20:00 so we paid for a day we weren't able to use.So to sum up I think the Costa Club is at best as far as management goes SUCK!! I'm 62yrs have a bad hip and knee and I sit here and suffer waiting to go. Maybe they didn't want us to drink their $.50 cent drinks orsomething Goodbye Costa club won't be back but you could give a care I'm sure.

We arrived mid January for a 3 week holiday 😎 unfortunately the room requested was not available. 3 days later we moved into the requested suite just renovated. The new bathroom had no cold water in the shower. The furniture has been upgraded no longer leather this will be sofa and loveseat will be destroyed in no time once the Mexican families move in. I was informed that one upgraded suite has already been damaged. If not for the employees this hotel under present management would not exist. The 👨🍳 chef is trying to do his best however do to the poorly heating system under the counter to heat the food he has little hope. The food is prepared in another kitchen and brought over to the main eating area and then placed up front for us to eat. No wounder the food is always COLD. Less I forget black birds flying around the eating area and pigeons eating around the tables. The snack bar also prepares many hamburgers and hotdogs ahead of time and then reheats them had one it was like eating a hockey puck French fries were cold. During the week the Mexican families 👪 arrive children running up-and-down 🏃♂️ around the pool area. Music is played very loud around the pool area to satisfy the Mexican vacationers. The place is over crowded.

The hotel in general is good. But it has some issues. The room have a buzzing sound coming from the outside. When you used the toilet there was a hearable sharp sound. Pool area is nice and drinks are fine but the music choice needs improvement.

If I could do 0 stars I would I was in a deluxe room there was nothing deluxe about it from the grout in the bathroom to the shower door being dirty from. The day I arrived to 2 weeks later it was still dirty. Dirty walls and not receiving the standard of a bath mat and hand towels which I received only 3 times during my stay. The alacart/ Italian restaurant/ fine dining is anything but. The main restaurant/ slop shop the food is always cold even when it first opens. The snack shop over produce so again cold food all the time. The food is an essential part of my holiday and it was severally lacking. The solarium is one women in a tent giving treatments i would question she was qualified to carry out. There is nothing but the staff eligible for the 3 stars. The staff are the only thing going for this hotel.

Hotel looked good and overall was reasonable maintained. Most staff were pleasant (food and housekeeping). These were the good points. Bad points, I could write a book but will only list the main ones. The resort is across from the sport fields. When we arrived, the resort was over run with kids as there was a children's soccer tournament until the Friday. I am not talking a few teams. There had to be at least 250 kids staying at the resort. There was no peace and quiet or relaxing. All four pools jammed with kids, even the adult pool. We were told Friday it would calm down as the tournament ends, Guess what, a lot stayed until the Sunday to leave. Sunday afternoon was quiet when we returned to the resort and Monday morning was not bad but by Monday late afternoon it was loaded with tons of kids again. We generally left the resort in the mornings and returned late afternoon. Upon arrival at the resort, the person or bell person who was to take us to our rooms, took us to the building we were to be in and said we were on the third floor. I found it strange he would not take us to the room but then found out why, the elevator was out of order and he did not want to carry bags up three flights of stars. Get to the room, it was clean, little dated but fine. Start putting stuff away and found the safe not working. We notified our housekeeper and was told it would be dealt with in the next half hour. Waited in the room. No one came, second notification to them, told 10 minutes and someone will be there. This complaining and someone will be there went on for two hours. Finally someone showed, could not fix it so he had to replace it. Believe it or not, replacing the safe does not include fastening it to the wall or furniture. They only weigh 10 pounds and he just sets it on the dresser. Why would someone break into the safe when they can just walk away with it. After this issue of the safe, my wife and I go down for a drink and they have no diet pop or low sugar drinks. I am a diabetic as many people in this world now are and can not have alcohol or sugar drinks. I go to the front desk to inquire about this as I cannot last a week on water. I was politely informed there is a store just down the street to the resort and I can purchase it there. Great customer service coming from an all inclusive resort (sarcasm). First time in 25 years of traveling I have faced this. Comes dinner time and there is a lineup to get into the restaurant, almost 45 minutes to get in and you do not want to leave and come backs later as you are faced with the same situation. This happened the entire week, breakfast and dinner. I can not speak to lunches sincee there was no peace and quiet on the resort, we left for the majority of the day each day and ate offsite. The food at the resort was generally cold as well. One time we were there right at opening to try and not face long lineups and get hot food and guess what, it was cold as well. They say Cuban food is poor and limited. In my ventures to Cuba 28 times, Cuban food is good compared to what they served here and their selection. Needless to say, we ate off resort for half of our meals as the food was poor and we hate waiting in line for a table and food. I visited the supper market daily to pick up beverages and some fruit and munches to take back to the resort. There were numerous other issues as they do not have a lot of lounge chairs at the beach, programmed our keycard to the room a day short of when we were to check out and had to stand in line for 45 minutes to get it reprogramed. The list goes on. It is sad as the looks of the resort is good overall but it was hell. My wife and I were both looking forward to going home days before we were to leave. Our vacation can be summed up as we left the resort generally after breakfast, took the bus into town, spent the day in Porta Vallarta on the beach or in the Town, came back may eat dinner at or off the resort, then go next door for shopping of drinks and food or fruits and then bed. Another issue is the customer service people contracted by the resort, Jose in particular, would hound use when we were on the resort to attend timeshare presentations and would not take no for an answer. He would nail us in line for food, walking out of the resort ect. and was like a Pitbull with his teeth into us. No means no, what word does he not understand. There was also construction going on in the resort although it did not bother us but two mornings we were woken up but the construction of a high rise condo building going up next door to the resort. We did complain about a few of the items to our Air Canada rep, whom was very pleasant and professional and did say he would pass it along and someone from the resort would get back to us. No one did. I feel this resort is poorly managed and not responsive to a lot of customer needs. Our experiences in Town and around the area were good but it is the resort that makes it or breaks it und unfortunately, it broke us!!
