Most depressing hotel ever!
This is honestly the most depressing hotel I have ever stayed in. The decor is old and shabby, the atmosphere is dreary, and it feels like something out of League of gentlemen. The walls are paper thin, and you can hear everything, from everyone’s door opening and closing, your neighbours light switches, TV, and everything else! There so much better hotels for a lot less money in this area. I won’t be returning. Ps: The staff were great, but how they continue to work here is beyond me.
Nice friendly hotel
I stayed here for one night as my car was having some work done, the hotel is well situated and easy to get to , there is also a garage next door should you need any supplies. I found the staff very friendly and attentive and eager to help, I was able to check in two hours earlier. The food is varied and enjoyable , the room whilst dated was comfortable, there was a very modern shower with all sorts of settings and plenty of tea/coffee. There were a couple of negatives the main one being my room was adjacent to the main road and the the rubble of lorries was quite loud, thankfully I had earplugs . If you are staying especially on the ground floor avoid even number rooms which face the road. I also found the bar prices quite steep , a pint of diet coke was £4.70 and it was poured from a supermarket 1.5 ltr bottle, quite a mark up but suppose that is what hotel bars charge. All in all a nice budget hotel
Attended the Burns Night dinner dance at the hotel and stayed over. We have attended a dinner dance previously which was excellent and the Burns Night did not disappoint! The food was excellent especially for a large event, the staff were friendly and efficient and the whole event well presented. As before the events team are lovely to deal with to make arrangements. The hotel room was good, clean and had all that we needed for a one night stay - great sized bed which was super comfy.
Had not been for years and was looking forward to returning for our group pre- Christmas dinner. Although staff were pleasant they were obviously under pressure the food was not at all what I expected, Small portions just dumped on the plate but mainly the turkey "roll" - very little of it wrapped round sausage meat.and lukewarm.
Celebrating an 80th birthday
We attended a Dinner/disco for my father's 80th. Throughout the night the service was good, the food was good and it had a real party atmosphere. We had 3 generations attend and everyone enjoyed themselves. We also had a couple of dietary requirements which were catered for without any problems. The hotel were happy for us to decorate the table for the occasion which made it more personnel for us. A great place to get family and friends together.
