Lovely end to our vacation
We stayed here over night after flying into YVR before driving the last leg home because our flight was expected to arrive late and we have 3 children, seemed less hassle to get to bed sooner than later. Our flight was 2 hrs delayed, but as soon as I called Christian was warming up the bus and on his way despite it being after 1am, very pleasant during the safe drive. Check in was quick and painless, the room was exactly what we'd booked. The quality of furnishing and decor was great
Very convenient area and awesome staff
The location of this Holiday Express is between Downtown Vancouver and and Tsawwassen, which makes this a very convenient location. The on ramp to the 99 south and north is a 3 minute drive from the hotel, where you'll get to Vancouver in about 15 minutes. Next door to the hotel is a entertainment complex where there's an ice skating rink, movie theaters, and restaurants and bars. So there are times when this hotel can get crowded as schools stay at this hotel when they have hockey matches at the ice rink. So one morning at the breakfast area, it was filled with a hockey team, then after they left a girls swim team came in. The free breakfast was very good. It included fresh fruits (bananas, oranges, and apples), various flavors of yogurts, various dry cereals, oat mea, scrambled eggs, cheese omelet, bacon, turkey sausage, pork sausage patty, pancakes, cinammon rolls, and bagels. The pancakes were fancy, where you just a button on the pancake machine and it pours the batter and off of a conveyer belt comes your cooked pancake in a few minutes. The dining area has 2 large tv's but the largest one is tuned to a non-HD news channel. Why have such a nice tv and show a blurry non-HD show. One morning we were on the run, so I made a sandwich with cheese omelete, sausage patty, and bacon. One downside about this location, is that there doesn't seem to be enough parking for the guests. If you come back after 9 pm most of the stalls are taken. If there's no parking you'll have to park in the entertainment center's parking lot and put a paper on your dash showing that your a guest at the Holiday Inn. The parking stalls in the hotel lot also seem narrow, but all of the stalls in Vancouver seem to be narrower than US stalls. The rooms are nice with a big 50" Samsung tv with lots of HD channels. The bed is comfortable, and there's a small refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. The bathroom products were the best! The shampoo, hair conditioner, and body lotion were Bath and Body Works products. I didn't know that Bath and Body Works made hair products, so we thought it was something Canadian. So we went to a Bath and Body Works store at one of the malls looking for the shampoo, and the store personnel said that they don't sell shampoo. I told her that the products were at our hotel, and she was surprised. The shampoo was so good, where a small amount would be enough to wash your hair. When we travel, in the morning when we leave the room we put a small tip on the pillow for the house cleaner for our room. One of the evenings when we returned to our room the house cleaner left a note on the note pad to thank us for the gratuity. That was the first time ever that the cleaner left us a thank you note. We also had a problem with our entry door not closing good. When we leave, we have to give it an extra tug to get it to latch shut. We knew what we had to do to secure the door, but the room cleaner didn't. So one evening when we came back, the door looked closed, but it actually wasn't. We could just push the door without using the key to open it. We notified the front desk the following morning. So while we were out enjoying our vacation, the maintenance staff fixed the door. By the tv the person that fixed the door left a note stating who he was, and was there to fix the door. Very very professional.
