We adored this quaint B&B in Rivello.

We stayed one night here and got a sense of this quiet, mountaintop town. Our room was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and very quiet with beautiful mountain views. Theresa was very friendly and accomodating. All the restaurants were closed that day and she offered to make us an incredible, traditional dinner which was superior - one of the best meals we had over the 5 weeks we toured Italy! Everything homemade - antipasti, raviolis, another pasta, salade and homemade gelato in an elegant pastry, and very nice wine. The breakfast was also terrific. All in all a great experience!

Beware of this B&B and it's "Manageress"

Avaliou em 27 de março de 2014

My wife and I found this B&B on Trip Advisor and read the positive reviews. We were going to book on Booking.com but before proceeding made an enquiry directly to the property regarding location, parking etc. The "Manageress" Theresa answered our questions and then suggested we book with her though the B&B website so she didn't incur fees. I looked at the website and found nothing untoward in general terms. There was No Cancellation Policy shown but given that B&B Lo Straniero's rooms on Booking.com could be cancelled without penalty even including a No Show I thought there could be no problem. So over 7 months ago we booked 3 nights directly with Theresa for July 2014 She asked for a deposit of Euro 80 to be deposited into an Account she nominated and we did that immediately. At no stage did Theresa mention anything about cancellations but as we had Booked our Flights etc we had no intention of cancelling anyway so thought nothing of it. Unfortunately in February this year a sudden Health Issue in the family meant that we in fact had to cancel our entire trip. This proved to be no problem with anyone except B&B Lo Straniero. Theresa flatly refused to refund us the Euro 80 but said she could keep the deposit for 12 months. I explained that because of the nature of the issue we face it is highly unlikely that we will be traveling within a year.Theresa then said she was out of town but would sort it out on her return that Sunday. This was late Feb and despite repeated requests by us she has not replied or had any further contact with us. The Local Basilicata Tourism Authority approached Theresa on our behalf and got absolutely nowhere with Theresa arrogantly claiming that she has not broken the law! This may be so although one would think that a Cancellation Policy if one is to applied should be published on the Web site and mentioned at the time of Booking. So Illegal, possibly not but unethical, most certainly! Beware!!

Small but sweet

Sweet little b&b in a tiny village on the top of a mountain. Small but clean room and tidy bathroom. Lovely lady in charge. Very helpful. Only Italian spoken though. Don't bring a heavy suitcase as there are lots of stairs to get to the b&b, which is located in the historic part of the village. Park your car before the streets get too narrow to turn around... Walk up the last bit. Not for someone with decreased mobility. Recommended for everyone else looking for good value and authentic off-the-beaten track experience.

I've been for a couple of days in Rivello. The village is a made of a gropu of houses and alleys erectd on a hill. the sight of the valley fulffils the eyes. The B&B was very nice. the double rooms where furnished in a very cozy and elegant way. the breakfast and the aperitivo where good and copious. I slpet in the singolo room. i have to say that it was too humid, but cozy. the other rooms were very nice! don't miss the dinner in the osteria of the village!

We booked this accommodation after seeing a photo of Rivello. What an amazing place, both the B&B and the town. Teresa was wonderful and made us feeling welcome and at home. Highly recommend visiting.
