Not a very good one
Domus Praetoria Domus Praetoria is a few rooms (they say 15), which are made of flats divided into ‘hotel’ rooms. Equipment is cheap and old, mattress is uncomfy, a shower is old with cracks so tiny to fit a gnome, water barely flows from the shower head. The neighborhood is somewhat dirty, a construction going on is just at the door. The elevator is tiny. The toilet tank leaks. There’s a smell in a porch, and a real overstuffed garbage bins in their courtyard. Tiny fridge barely holds +12C. WiFi very slow. Yes, it’s 10-15 minutes walk from Termini. Rooms are clean with a claim to be solid. Staff gives quite good free map of Rome. Conad and Coop supermarkets are 10-15 minutes walk. Agora restaurant across the street gives 10% discount if you say ‘Maurizio from Domus Praetoria sent me here, do you have a discount for me?’ They changed bed and towels every day, there’s a cheap tea and coffee packs. Not recommended, unless it’s €40-50 per night.
BEST FIND IN ROME!
Central. Location easy to get from point to point. Good hospitality. I like how convenient we are, even if means to public transportation and supermarket. I would definitely be back to stay here when visiting Rome!
Close to station but...
Lovely staff and good location close to Roma Termini but it’s old, outdated and very noisy - both from the street (we had a market setting up from before 6am on a Friday morning) and from other rooms - every toilet flush, door open/close etc... Wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.
BE CAREFUL with your LOCKS !
Believe it or not, my tsa locks for a suitcase were unlocked and locked again while I was out of the room. Not only the numbers' positions were changed but also the newly connected form was totally different from that I made ; possible only after unlocking once (I shot videos before going out and checked them). Even Worse were two managers' reponses.
location location
The location is superb and easy to walk to from Roma Termini station, come out of the station at the Via del Castro Pretorio exit, turn right and walk 30 meters to Via Milazzo, turn left and the hotel is at the bottom of Via Milazzo on the left. The rooms have high ceilings and the bathroom was newly refurbished, there is air conditioning but it was not in use due to the time of year. If you are going to travel around Italy by train the GoEuro app is by far the easiest and cheapest way to book your tickets, once the tickets are emailed to your phone you don't even need wi-fi to use them. The hotel wi-fi is very strong. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A vanity mirror in the bedroom and shelf space in the bathroom for toiletries would be helpful. also if you arrive in the daytime don't be put off by the unappealing courtyard.Buses run every 30 minutes from the opposite side of the station(not the Via del Castro Pretorio exit) to the airport. If you have an early flight and are getting a bus to the airport you can not cut through the station between midnight and 4.30 am as it is closed.Overall we had an enjoyable stay at this hotel and would stay here again.
