Good overnight stop whilst traveling to Spain
Avaliou em 6 de fevereiro de 2019
Booked this property as an overnight stop about midpoint between Le Havre and Burgos. The property was easy to locate, although in the middle of town, across the road from the train station. We stayed with our dog and the bedroom was large, the shower room was modern and very clean. The lady on the reception was very helpful, offering advice on dog friendly restaurants!!

The hotel is directly across from Saintes railway station and thus very close by for travellers. I was worried about the noise from the trains but these were no problem. Guest will need to be mindful however that the lovely timber floors and staircase means very footfall can be heard at all hours of the night and day, so some nights were more restful than others. This said, the rooms are beautiful, large and spotlessly clean. I could open heavy french doors to let in light and air, a pleasure on warm evenings. Breakfast was decent and the food fresh. It is a short walk around the corner to a local cafe & bar and the beautiful Marie, who was helpful in french & a little english. A few blocks walk finds you at the water front, and across the small flowered bridges, the old town. The owners of the hotel are delightful, friendly and helpful. English is spoken, and a little wine is available in the back garden in the evenings if you like. I can recommend this lovely little hotel ❤️

A great ‘stop-over’ heading down the A10

Stayed here on the way down to the Medoc. Less than an hour from Royan and the BAC over the Gironde, so made a great stop-over. Good value for money, a v copious breakfast, offering lots of choice, decent rooms and a really super ‘Patron’ who could not have been more helpful.

This reasonably-priced hotel was an excellent choice. It was a little difficult to find; the owners may have thought that we would be put off by the mention of it being near the (rather fine) old railway station, but (unlike a previous reviewer) we did not find that the station made the hotel noisy. We were undisturbed until the street-cleaning machine came quite early, but I imagine this does not happen every day. The hotel has a most beautiful staircase, and our very good breakfast was in the equally attractive dining room, which is a clever mixture of old and new, with some fine old photographs. Our bedroom was comfortable and clean, as was the whole hotel. We were welcomed kindly by the owners, who take pride in their work, and we would choose to return to this hotel whenever we are in the area.

My husband & I feel very fortunate to have stumbled upon this perfect gem. Upon arrival we asked for one night but ended up staying for three. The proprietors, Beatrice & Jean, were gracious, our room was perfect, the patio is fantastic. The town itself has so much to experience. The Abby, the cathedrals, the amphitheater were all amazing. There is the river & gardens to enjoy. I went for a beautiful run. My husband rode his bike to the coast and back. I highly recommend The Souvenirs de Familles. Merci beaucoup.
