Convenient Economy Lodging on the Riverwalk
San Antonio’s Riverwalk is a great place to visit and spend a weekend or longer. To make the experience the best it can be and add convenience, it is recommended to find a place to stay right on the Riverwalk and a good, economical choice is Club Wyndham Riverside Suites. Rented mostly as a Timeshare property, Club Wyndham Riverside Suites is about 7 stories tall and is perched right above the Riverwalk. Just exit on the main level, walk around to the side, and you will see the stairway leading to the Riverwalk. The hotel itself is very modest on the outside and from the Riverwalk side, it looks like an apartment building. The only way you know this a Wyndham resort is from the entrance, and even that is easy to overlook. With the units, they are offered in 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and studio with a pull out sofa couch to sleep more people. I have stayed here in a 1 bedroom and in a 2 bedroom unit. The 2 bedroom is nice for the extra space and pair of bedrooms. There are hardwood floors in the living room area and kitchen, with carpeting in the bedrooms. The units have multiple televisions, refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, dishwasher, and microwave. They are essentially small condo units and are comfortable and clean. Convenience and cost are the best reasons to stay at Club Wyndham Riverside Suites. The Riverwalk is right there and, compared to other hotels on the Riverwalk, you can rent one of these for less money. However, this is not a place to consider if you like a hotel with lots of amenities and extras. Other than a common space that consists of an outdoor balcony, and a pair of vending machines, there are no other amenities available. The hotel doesn’t have its own parking garage, either. You have to park in a nearby garage and pay a daily fee, then walk over to the hotel. I love the San Antonio Riverwalk and I have visited countless times over the past 15 years. Club Wyndham Riverside Suites is an acceptable place and it’s good for those who just want a place to sleep while they explore the Riverwalk and other San Antonio landmarks. It’s a basic place of lodging and good for a weekend stay.
Good location, tight rooms... It's ok
Nice staff... the layout is very cramped... must pay $10 per day for parking in a garage a block away (no biggie). I wouldn't stay here again, but I'm not mad about it. It was a very steep two story place with the master upstairs... I think if the master bedroom was downstairs & a larger living room.. It would be great... The bedroom upstairs did have a nice balcony though. The pain is climbing up and down the stairs because the room & better view is on the second floor, but the kitchen is downstairs making it a pain... Maybe if they put a mini fridge upstairs it would be better. Pretty good location on the Riverwalk.
Just short of the mark
Although this property is conveniently located, the experience we had here was less than acceptable. To begin with, we had a two bedroom unit. We had looked at the floor plan online but each two bedroom unit is different and so you can't assume you will get the floorplan advertised online. This is something they should point out on their website. We invited another couple to join us based on the floorplan we assumed we were getting. Fortunately, they had to cancel at the last minute because our unit is so small that it was insane. The width of the living/dining/kitchen area is about 9'.... room for the width of a sofa and no end table or lamps. Instead of a dining table for 6, we had a small round table with three chairs. We knew it was a kitchenette instead of a full kitchen so that was no surprise. But for a unit that can sleep SIX PEOPLE, there is no way 6 could stay in this unit. The sofa can seat 3 and there are 3 small chairs for the table that is pushed against the window! There are two bathrooms, one is decent size but the second one is very small. Our unit had one bedroom with a king and one with a queen. Both beds were very comfortable and had nice linens. The best part of this property is its location. Very convenient to everything. And, for the most part, the staff was very helpful. Parking is $15/night (with in and out privileges) at a garage about 5 minutes away. I believe there is a laundry available to use on one of the floors. They also had convenient push carts to help with unloading luggage.
Great Location!
We stayed at the Club Wyndham Riverside Suites the first week of February. The location is awesome, as it is right on the Riverwalk for San Antonio. We could easily pop down to enjoy the walk, sights and restaurants on the Riverwalk and surrounding area including the Alamo. Wyndham also offered a shuttle to a few key locations around the city, as well, so that was an added perk. Due to the location, you do have to know that there is music wafting up from the bars until the wee hours, but nothing that we couldn't handle or were bothered by. The bedroom was located at the back of the unit away from the windows. The room was adequate and comfortable, as a one bedroom. The kitchen sink is a bar sink due to the dishwasher, so really not very useful. We like to cook, and while the stovetop was great, cleaning up was pretty difficult. The frying pan barely fit, as well as the larger mixing bowls. Our particular unit showed separation in the flooring, so we had a long strip of subfloor exposed that was full of dirt. The rest of the unit seemed to be maintained pretty well. All of the staff were pleasant, informative and helpful. We'd stay here, again.
