Beware of 3rd party booking

Avaliou em 24 de outubro de 2021

We booked through auto clubs pleasant holidays and apparently that was a mistake. We paid $45.00 extra per night for a premium king, as it was supposed to be a better location in the resort than a standard king. Our location was as standard as you could get at the very back, far from the pools, restaurants, and water rentals. Our garden view was of our car and a some grass. The resort was half empty, so available rooms couldn't have been the issue. We will let auto club know that 3rd party bookings are not so pleasant. This is probably a great resort if you have kids, but probably less desirable for couples. The location is close to everything San Diego has to offer, especially the beaches.

Very cute location, spacious rooms, but nothing fancy

At first glance it seems like a fancy hawaiian-style resort. It is very cute, the location is fun with water views everywhere, but do not expect a fancy stay at this renovated but still basic hotel. Beds are ok but not super comfortable, pillows are tiny (very weird), there was no table or desk in my room to work, no business center, gym is crowded. Food was good, staff was friendly, pet-friendliness makes it fun for those traveling with dogs. Not business friendly. Surrounding hotels were 1/2 the price so you really are paying for the experience. I'd say it's worth it for travelers with kids (they have 5 pools) but wouldn't pay up otherwise.

We felt very mislead

For our Columbus Day trip to San Diego I let my 16 year old son pick the Hotel. His #1 criteria was a tennis court so he could play his favorite sport, but in CA, for the first time. After careful review, we chose Paradise Point. Upon arrival we weren't impressed given the price we paid. The entrance very mediocre the roads inside the property were all split with potholes. The disheveled looking staff was polite but the check-in desk and lobby dark, dingy, sticky and looked 100 years old. We honestly didn't want to sit down on the furniture. The lush landscape felt overgrown and not tidy or manicured; we never saw a groundskeeper the entire stay. The ponds all had sludge on top of the water. We couldn't walk from our room to the main area without slipping on smelly duck poop. The main restaurant was closed so all we had was the shabby barefoot type bar/restaurant. Even the bar only had a few seats; glad we didn't need them. There was no way we'd feel comfortable in the pools as chlorine didn't seem a strong enough chemical for the property and the fitness center was also very average and didn't feel very sanitized; especially on the heels of the pandemic. The VERY worst part was the tennis pro for the resort wasn't there. We called with days of lead time but too late to cancel. We felt tricked and stuck. The tennis instructor was headed to watch the pro's and couldn't play with my son. The VERY reason he chose the resort, to play tennis in CA, was impossible there and the tennis pro shop area always closed each time we walked over. We had to uber to another resort that is actually trip-advisor rated slightly below this one, is slightly less expensive but felt like a $500/night resort easily. We spent our two days at the other San Diego MIssion Bay Resort with nearby courts, playing tennis there at a wonderful program they had. We finished every meal and spa treatment and activity there, and reluctantly took another ride-share back to our dilapidated room in "Paradise." Given we felt forced to travel to another resort and experiencing that one as a comparison made "Paradise" more of a shock. We left very disappointed and will not come back or recommend it, sadly.

All around great experience!

It is a wonderful resort. The employees really care. The property was absolutely beautiful. I loves how clean and comfortable the beds were. There is no comparison in the San Diego area. I cant wait to go back.
