Refusing refund after promising one
I booked two rooms at the SJ Suites in San Juan Puerto Rico for March of 2020 as the group I was travelling with were taking another cruise from San Juan. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the cruise line moved cancelled our dates and moved us to May on 2020. I called the hotel and they offered to move our rooms as well. On April 21, 2020, I contacted the SJ Suites Hotel to see about moving my reservations due to the travel restrictions that were put into place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and our cruise was cancelled again. As this was the second time for a change, the Manager Raymond offered a full refund. It was the hotel that cancelled the rooms not myself, as I was willing to shift the dates to 2021. I gladly accepted as I was not sure when the restrictions would be lifted. I received a partial refund within a about 3 weeks. When I reached to Raymond, one at least 12 different occasions via e-mail, he stated that Hotwire was the hold up in the balance of the refund. So I reached out to Hotwire several times and was told that every attempt to reach the Hotel was met with silence. Raymond would not return their call. He has since refused to answer my calls or emails. It has become very obvious that this establishment is not trustworthy. During these ever-changing times, you would this that they would want to keep their customers as happy as possible. My wife and I, as well as several friends, travel to San Juan every year for a cruise. We like to stay the same hotel, if possible. This was our first time trying the SJ Suites and will be the last. I would never stay there again
DISGUSTING !!! AVOID AVOID AVOID , YOU ARE BETTER OFF SLEEPING IN YOUR CAR.
upon arrival it was just plain creepy stained carpet throughout scary rickety elevator. checked into the room the bed was made but there were two of the most stained filthy pillows i have ever seen with no pillowcases laying in the middle of the bed . I wouldn't let a dog sleep on them. I picked them up by the corners and took them down to the desk and asked if they had any clean pillows she left with them and then came back and said no. I went back to the room only to find that although the bed was made it was not changed they were only going to change the pillow cases but forgot. I left the hotel and paid $300 for 1 night at the sheraton . They refused to refund . The furniture looks like it was salvaged off the curb after the hurricane. The old bank cage doors in the hall lock behind you and when I came back i had to yell for my husband down the hall to get in . If you forget the key here in a fire you would burn to death. dirty, scary & unsafe
Horrible Place, Very Disappointing
At arrival, the Front door is locked nobody there to greet you, the lobby is on 2nd floor, very inconvenient to take large luggage in a small elevator. When we got the room, the carpet had a nasty odor and it was 52 degrees inside, there was not thermostat in the room, went to receptionist to complaint, she said the thermostat was control by them and it was in the hallway and could not make it warmer because other will complaint, but, 52 degrees is just out control. We both got sick with a cold that night. The next day asked for more blankest got only 1, and mover 2 new clean towels, both of the towels were stain and dirty it was so disgusting. The second night at 1 am in the morning while we were sleeping someone open the door, I screaming to loud, was very scared. Those doors uses a regular key, nothing electronic, I have a feeling the same keys open any of the room doors. I put my luggage against the door to prevent someone in entering, the next morning the luggage was on the floor and my clothes all over, I am sure someone tried to open door again. Felt very unsafe. I could not sleep either night and to make the room warmer I had climb on a used 3 pillow cased to cover the ac vent. This was a horrible experience. We were told by front desk that with hotel receipt parking was only $13.00, well we end up paying 26.00 per day Horrible experience.
Excellent location. Clean. Spacious.
It is a hotel, which would likely fall under the category of 'no frills'. It was perfect as a solo traveler as it was in walking distance from sites and attractions, restaurants, bars, shops, beaches. Although walking the distance to the nearby beaches may not be for 'everybody', it is definitely doable. The shower at the hotel is more cold and colder rather than hot and cold (likely due to conservation of water - shorter showers (much shorter!)). There was coffee in the morning. Water bottles were available for purchase for $1. The concierge was friendly and attentive but non-invasive.
