Great location, nice people, bad service, not really good rooms

This place has a very nice location, but you can always find nice located places in San Miguel, this place is uncomfortable and expensive, I am sorry but its not worth it, employees are nice and always available, but the room was loud, really small and didn't have much to offer.
2 for 1 special... Not so much.

Walking down the pleasant Streets of San Miguel de Allende, we came across Casa Chiquita Correo. As we looked at the menu, two nice gents came out of the restaurant and suggested the aracherra hamburgers, "tastes great and 2 for 1, on Wednesday. Perfect! We confirm with the waitress inside and indeed it's 2 for 1 hamburgers, just as it says on the door. We tell her we'll be back in a hour to eat.
We get back and she tells us to go upstairs to be seated and to order. My wife and I are starving so we head up and order. Just before the waiter leaves I verify the hamburgers are 2 for 1. He looks down and says not today. Hmmm... That's odd. So back down the stairs we go to ask the same woman we spoke to an hour earlier and she tells us the same thing - no special. I said, but you told us there was a special. She looks at us straight in the face and says, "oh, that was last week."
Woooow, that was a really fast week! So sadly we left the restaurant to find dinner elsewhere.
Cozy, perfectly located

I liked where the place is located. The room (I took the first one in the 2nd level) is super cozy, loved the decoration! Due to the size, 3 persons can sleep there easily. It didn't have AC but with San Miguel de Allende's weather you will not need it.
The reason I am giving 4 stars is because the bathroom had some kind of mold and peeling of the wall right above the sink near to the roof, and a lot of it was falling right to my head -.-
I think that is something that the hotel should repair because it could cause health issues to the guests.
Make sure they provide the right key of your room because the lady that received us gave us a wrong one and since I got back to the room really late I had to wait for the guard to arrive and provide the correct key.
Also, the device for swiping the card wasn't working so be prepared to take cash just in case.
I would recommend to stay in the 2nd level because at the very entrance, the hotel has a pizza restaurant and you might hear the customers noise.
Overall it was OK :)
Didn't meet expectations

We booked a room at Casa Chiquita Correo months in advance, through Booking.com. We were promised an oven, coffee machine and hardwood/parquet floors. The room we were shown had no oven, no coffee machine, no hardwood/parquet floors. and was very small for the price. We found a cheaper, more spacious place nearby and moved out of the Chiquita Correo after one night.

I want to start off by saying that the hotel is in a great location. Very central and convenient and the room was nice. One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is a small pizza place where the patrons order pizza and eat it on the roof. If you don't mind a little noise, and a little foot traffic by your room, you won't be bothered by it. We were fine with that aspect and even ordered pizza and had it delivered to our room on one of the evenings. The downside is that since it is not a typical hotel with a lobby, you may arrive and find the hotel 'closed' with no answer when you knock or call the hotel number. We arrived earlier than 3pm (which is the check in time) and were hoping to be able to at least leave our luggage at the front desk until check in time, but we found the hotel closed and had to wait with our luggage on the very narrow sidewalk for a couple of hours until someone arrived at 3pm to open the hotel. It's not a deal breaker when deciding to book but definitely good to know so that you are not caught off guard when arriving. I had to give the hotel a poor review because an electronic device went missing from one of our bags after we left it in the room. We were very careful to bring the backpack with us each time we left but had to leave it on one occasion because we were going horseback riding and could not ride with a backpack. When we returned, we went through the bag and our electronic portable gaming device was missing. We were careful to check that it was there prior to leaving the room and made sure to lock the room behind us. This was an unfortunate experience, as the rest of our stay was good. We did not confront the staff upon leaving because we did not want to accuse anyone in particular and since it is not a typical hotel with a front desk, there is not always someone in attendance so we left the hotel on the day of our check out and I emailed the hotel to notify them. The manager responded and mentioned that nothing like this has been reported before. He asked for my booking information etc. so I emailed it to him but never heard anything further from hotel management. Unfortunately in a situation like this, we know that the chances of getting our item returned are slim to none, especially because you sign a waiver upon arriving saying that the hotel is not liable for lost or stolen items during your stay. As with anywhere, just don't get too comfortable and bring your valuables with you.
