Great and safe place to stay close to Santander

After a change by Brittany Ferries last minute we had to find somewhere to stay overnight. This hotel is close to the port of Santander and is ideal for late arrivals or early departures. We arrived very late but were able to contact the owners who were very kind and helpful The hotel is new and spotless in a quiet safe location. We asked where we could get food but they instead offered to and made us a terrific supper. This turned a very bad Brittany ferries experience into a very nice evening.

Great, inexpensive hotel near Santander

This is a nice, inexpensive, well-run hotel near Santander (in Mompia). It's in a residential-type area, so very quiet, and is a short drive from everywhere else. It is a small (14 room), new property, with on-site owners, and a restaurant open 6 day a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The rooms are clean, functional, and comfortable, although slightly small. Despite being "1 star", there's daily housekeeping. Overall, this would be a top choice if you're looking for a place to stay while exploring the area -- it isn't a resort or destination in itself, but there's a lot to do in the area, so if you'd rather spend your money on something other than an expensive hotel, it's the perfect option. There is plenty of free parking. The owners speak Spanish and some English (and possibly other languages), perfectly sufficient for even someone who speaks very little Spanish to communicate, and they are very friendly. There is laundry service for EUR 6 flat-fee for wash/dry/fold. (It's a bit strange that a "1 star" hotel often has faster Internet, easier parking, more convenient laundry, and better food than a 5-star, despite costing 10% as much.)

Great stop on the Camino

Bypassing Santander we came across the hotel/restaurante Alcamino and it was wonderful. Very clean, with large rooms. Our host who spoke little English used his cell phone to translate if there was a problem in our communication. Dinner and breakfast were accommodated so that we could eat early and the food was delicious. Family and neighbors made this stay even more homey. A great stop when walking the Camino del Norte - just a couple of blocks off the route

The Hotel is new, the facilities are very clean and the treatment received has been excellent. The dinner was superb and very full breakfast. You can appreciate excellent quality. The staff is very helpful, very polite.

Hemos estado alojados dos adultos y dos niños en una habitación familiar en agosto de 2022 y ha sido todo un acierto. Habitación moderna, amplia y muy limpia. Desayuno exquisito y trato de los propietarios inmejorable. La ubicación es ideal para hacer turismo por Cantabria. Muy cerca de Santander y demás sitios de interés y en una zona muy tranquila para descansar. Recomendable cien por cien y sin duda repetiríamos.
