Everything was just fine. But be sure you get a room with window. Most of the rooms has no window. The staff were friendly and helpfull. The brekfast was OK. very cheap accomodation.Location near harbour.

Rooms are nice if you get one with a window but it is extremly noisy. Not only were we able to hear everything which was going on in the streets , you could also hear everything from the rooms next door. Friendly staff but breakfast is nothing special. We had cheaper and better places in Santa Marta before

This hotel was everything we were looking for in Santa Marta. The beds were SO comfortable, wi-Fi was strong and the hotel over all was clean and welcoming. The staff were warm and super accommodating. They made my friend chicken soup when she was sick, held our bags for three days while we went to Tayrona, and were just sweet and responsive in general. They have a beautiful terrace over looking Santa Marta that we would have utilized more but there was no Wi-Fi. The only suggestion to the hotel is to extend the Wi-Fi to the Terrace. Its a good location if you want to be in a less touristy part of town. That being said, Its only a five minute walk to the town center.
I would have rated this hotel higher except for a some things noted below

This is a very nice hotel--very clean, in good condition, comfortable (almost luxurious) bed, good a/c cooling, spacious bathroom, good lighting, good number and placement of electrical outlets, adequate WiFi (4-4.8 Mbps download and an unbelievably good 12 Mbps upload--good enough for watching a Netflix film with just an occasional flutter or pause and to make WiFi calls.), mostly enthusiastic staff with some speaking English better than where I have been elsewhere in Colombia, etc. I want to highly recommend the effort that two of the young men made to help me. I needed a haircut, and one of them sent me in the right direction and told me the approximate cost so I would know if I was being asked to pay too much. (So many businesses in Colombia do NOT post prices--especially in tourist locales.) The other young man, after I ran into problems trying to make the call to book a trip on the shuttle van to Mompox, mad the call on the hotel phone for me. He had to dial the number several times because it was busy. But he eventually got through and he gave the woman the information after she indicated she does not speak English. Sounds great, doesn't it? But there were some snags: 1) The amount they were going to charge me was a bit more than my reservation said I should be expected to pay. When the young man checking me in said it was for "insurance," I protested it and asked for it to be removed. (I have health insurance that pays 80% of all costs anywhere in the world.) But when I checked out, the young man seemed bothered, said it was hotel policy, and asked why I didn't want to pay. It gave me the impression that maybe it was a service charge the hotel is adding as a way to pay personnel. It was never clear, and my credit card had already been charged for the lesser amount. The hotel needs to clarify this charge and get it noted on websites that reserve rooms there. 2. My booked room was a "premium room." It WAS nice, but it was small enough that I had trouble having a good place for my bag, and worse, I was given a room without a window. I hate staying in closed boxes. I often come to the room in the daytime and like to have some natural light. Wonder what lack of features makes a non-premium room worse than this one? (This is partially a problem with the website I used; hotels.com does NOT offer me the chance to state preferences to be sent to the hotel the way that booking.com and others do.) The hotel did nothing but state that I would have to pay more if I wanted a room with a window. 3. The a/c is one of those boxes in the wall near the ceiling. It was placed so that it would blow directly on the bed no matter what side I chose for sleeping. The best remedy, though not perfect, was to manually stop the swing of the vent at its highest point angling almost straight across the room and sleeping on the side nearest the a/c. 4. The breakfast was good, but I kept getting the feeling that I was asking for too much. For instance, he asked if I wanted cafe, chocolate, tea, etc., the first day. I asked for coffee and had it with my omelette. When I moved to jam and bread, I asked for chocolate and got the feeling I shouldn't have. The next day, I only asked for coffee, and I was not offered anything else--not even a refill on the coffee. It's a semi-buffet system; you help yourself to some things, and they offer you other things.

Hermoso hotel ubicado cerca a la zona turística y a una cuadra del malecón de la bahía de santa marta con muy buen servicio, cómoda habitación, buena cama, buen baño y a un precio muy bueno. Me gustó mucho la estadía en el hotel, súper recomendado!!!
