Beyond Expectations

We stayed half-board for 5 nights at the end of June. Overall I couldn't fault anything except the slightly dated decor in the reception, although this was hardly an issue as we spent little to no time in there. The safe was free of charge, room immaculate. We were surprised by being given a free room on our final day to get changed in after checkout since our flight wasn't until later. This meant we could still stay by the pool on the final day. The location was close to Cala Egos, a smaller town just next to Cala d'Or, and about a 20min walk to central Cala d'Or. This walk didn't bother us even after a night of drinking as it was scenic walking past the marina and we are young. The hotel is also next to a beach so not exactly a trek, and we also went to the nearby Es Fortí, about a 15min walk from the hotel. I would definitely go again, despite not being someone who revisits the same place repeatedly!

Quite a grim place, stuck in a time warp. Needs gutting, modernising and the stupid rules to be removed.

I am going to try and be as balanced as possible, having spent a week here.   The good points: - The majority of the staff are nice and work hard.  They are friendly and attentive It's generally spotless.   The bad points: - I wish I had paid more attention to the details of the reviews, rather than the headline number.   - If you are under pensionable age, then I wouldn't recommend the RocaMarina.  The clientele is generally much older and from the conversations I had, have been coming here for years (decades) - This hotel is living in the past. The fact that there are still awards on the wall from travel companies that no longer exist says a lot.  Certificates take pride of place dating back to 1991 - There are some ridiculous rules.  Ridiculous for any hotel, but for one that claims to be four-star, they are embarrassing.  For example, if you want a kettle in your room, it's 3 euros PER DAY.  3 euros to change towels more than once per week - The worst thing is the insane restaurant "rules" and plan.  You get a fixed table for the duration of stay and receive a long rambling speech about what you can and can't do (mostly can't) - Breakfast is at the same table (but there was always somebody sitting at the table. Every day!) - The whole thing is hugely convoluted and completely unnecessary. I've never seen anything like it in a hotel anywhere in the world.  Staggering service is fine.  just ask people to select a time. There is no need for the clipboard of tables, rooms, and times and hushed conversations about "I can move you here instead of here" - It wasn't made clear that the time is also fixed every meal time, so every night there were people walking around in confusion (including us) wondering which of the many rules apply to this particular situation. There is no water with dinner - only if you purchase. All drinks must be paid for at the tab as they ordered. No putting on the tab.  order a drink and they take the money straight away with comments about preferring cash (in 2022! I didn't exchange a single cent) - The decor was last updated sometime in the early 90s and the sofas in the lounge are exceedingly old.  - The pool looked dirty and greasy. The tennis bar location was completely closed. - The dining room has a dress code of a collared shirt. I am on a TUI holiday in Spain, not a cruise! This is supposed 4-star hotel, but operates like a budget Blackpool hotel.

Not a Balcony as we know it!!

Avaliou em 16 de novembro de 2022

Staff at this Hotel were all very pleasant never too much trouble to help us, they always had a smile on their faces. we had one big problem! We paid an extra £308 for superior room with a SEA VIEW & BALCONY. the room was okay. Not the Balcony! we could only see the Sea View which was hard to see, You should be 6ft or taller. WE enjoy coffee inthe morning on the Balcony and to sit in the evening with a drink, all we could see was morning cloud & just the Black cloud in the eveningUNLESS WE STOOD UP. ADvice do not pay this Extra Money towards a SEA VIEW & BALCONY you will be very dissapointed. Also we were not told the CALADOR closed down on our last week every was empty. On the day we left there was only us & one more couple. If we had been given this information we would have booked this holiday for a week earlier. Not every knows that Majorca other PALMA Close down until MAY 2023 .CALOR DOR is a great place if you go at the right time, or get better Information from TUI.

4th visit to hotel Rocamarina

Avaliou em 12 de novembro de 2022

This was our 4th visit and just as good as ever, however just a couple of niggles to why i only awarded 4 stars. -Bathrooms badly in need of refurb. -Trays of pre-prepared food in buffet very often not warm enough even at start of service. Tennis club bar and pool closed however as we left it looked like they were starting to clear old fixtures and fitttings so may well be aiming to re-open next season. Apart from that still the best hotel and surrounding area. Many mention older couples /age group but have to say that i found more younger generations than i have in the past.
