Worst Shangri-La Ever Stayed
I stayed in this hotel in June and this has been the worst experience in Shangri-La. 1. The front office manager & staff are very unfriendly and arrogant. Upon my check-in, the FOM told me that the hotel won't give me Diamond tier benefit since my rate is not applicable. I made my reservation via Shangri-La App, and I wondered why. FOM told me the customer center told him. I looked up the rate details, and it stated clearly the Golden Circle T&C applies. And I called the customer center, the staff made sure that I should enjoy my Diamond tier benefits. Then, FOM told me the executive lounge was closed due to COVID-19. The hotel was crowded with guests and the occupation rate was extremely high. I wondered if the hotel closed the lounge to minimize the operational cost in the name of COVID-19. And FOM replied I agree with you. How arrogant he is! And also, I had the dinner in the hotel after check-out. When I finished my dinner, I noticed the front office had not returned my deposit. Then I enquired the staff. He told me it would normally take seven days for the deposit to be released. It's up to the bank restrictions. I argued that you didn't cancel the deposit. It had nothing to do with the bank. Then he returned my deposit with a very smelly face. 2.The room conditions were badly managed. I stayed here last October and I found out the sheets were dirty. The room director made a sincere apology to me and he said he will make sure I will be treated properly in my next stay. However, I found out the room is even more terrible this time. First, the lamp was turned on and off like lightening as if you were in the disco. Second, the sheet is also polluted with disgusting bloodstain. After my complaint, FOM came to my room with no greeting. He said the room was not meant for me. I argued in your opinion you can give this poorly-conditioned room to other guests. He argued the sheet is obviously washed because the blood stain appears yellow but not red. I want to throw up to his face. 3.The restaurant is quite decent and the staff and chef are very friendly, compared with the front office staff. I won't believe this hotel is managed so terribly. You can feel a little bit of Shangri-La hospitality because of the restaurant.
Definitely Will Come Back Again!
We had a 5-day vacation in Sanya Shangri-La Resort. It was a very pleasant experience. The hotel is a beautiful place, reception, room, pools, food are all very good. Pools are well maintained, and has a pool zone for kids. Kids were sooo happy there. And for food, don't miss the chili crab in Sea restaurant! It was very delicious. And the service was also very good. The people there were like your friends, your family, the feeling was quite comfortable. Definitely Will Come Back Again!
The People make the difference
We went to Hainan in April 2020 and Shangri-La was operating in off-season mode due to the special situation. Nevertheless, most facilities were open and we enjoyed the great breakfast, our nice room, warm pool as well as the beach front loungers a lot. All employees – from the booking agent to the waitress in the restaurant or the reception staff- were very attentive and made sure that we had a wonderful stay. A special thanks to Emma, who provided some of the best spa treatments we had for a while. Overall, Shangri-La Sanya promised a home away from home and the wonderful staff delivered what they have promised. Thank you.
Avoid club lounge !
This is a huge hotel with almost 500 rooms spread onto 4 big blocks on a huge ground of greeneries, palm trees, several pools, sand pit and access to the beach. There was even a sightseeing helicopter for hire on the lawn, really amazing ! The rooms were spacious, clean, well furnitured and well layed out. Staff were also very courteous and helpful. The club lounge food was good especially the quality of the breakfast spread. However, there were two areas we had issues with which the management should take note. Considering the size of the hotel and it was mid week, and the fact that we booked a garden view club room, we were assigned to a backroom facing a construction site with mechanical diggers outside our balcony making the balcony unusable. We complained and were immediately transferred to a room with garden view away from the construction, so why on earth were we given the original room in the first place ??? The second issue is anyone booking a club room expecting to use the club lounge for some happy hour relaxation, please don't and avoid !!! The club lounge was full of noisy young children running amok, most parent made little attempts to control them. The lounge was very full during happy hours, there were as many young children as adults. It seems the concept of club lounge is very different here, parents treat the club lounge as their family lounge where their children can play, and happy hour a way of feeding their children. We did ask one staff if this was a daily thing and were told yes, it was a family friendly hotel !
Dipesh is well groomed and well mannered trainee i met in my visit to Shangri-la. I met him at swimming pool where he talked to me very nicely. He was a trainee from foreign country but also he spoked really good English and Chinese too.
