Kubo moderno
Cool place to stay
We stayed here after spending 4 months on a farm in Andalusia. It was perfect! Close to the train station/airport with big, comfortable rooms and the most comfortable beds. The staff were excellent. The young woman who checked us in (sorry her name escapes me) could not have been more helpful and assisted us with anything we needed and was extremely friendly.
Yes but not but yes
This hotel has all the conditions to offer a nice experience. Even though I did not fancy the design as much as I expected, the lobby is very decent, the rooms are ok, the parking is large, the terrace is nice (with great views towards the iconic Giralda and other city points of interest). Breakfast was ok. Enough power plugs and the shower water had good pressure. Good WiFi (a bit weak at the pool). Now come the bad news. Service is not up to standard! Do not get me wrong, people are nice and welcoming (special shout-out to Cláudia: muchas gracias por tu simpatia). But hey, this is supposed to be a quite decent hotel! The pool has no service whatsoever. At the terrace, the parasols are often closed (this is sunny Sevilla we are talking about!!), there are loads of tables, no ashtrays, if you want a drink, you have to get it yourself, down at the lobby (at the expected price of a 4 star hotel...). The pool is not huge, so why on earth don’t they have the water circulation system connected the whole day? So it eventually turns into a puddle filled with hair. Not acceptable. Which brings me to the next level: these are COVID times, guys, so how can guests check into a room that wasn’t throughly cleaned and checked before guests arrival? There were long hairs on a room chair and on the bedside table. The bathroom had one (just the one in a double room) quite disgusting glass (really dirty), the toiletries left a lot to desire (just a bottle of shampoo and body wash). No sanitising gel in the room (a complimentary little bottle would have been nice). So I complained. Immediately a “superior room” was made available. Well... it was just the same room... with a balcony (and clean, of course). There was no ashtray on the balcony table, whereas many of the other balconies, you could see had one (try creating a checklist people! So all rooms look the same and have the same). There’s another detail that I think would make all the difference: the common areas are not climatized and when you get to your room it is not previously cooled... it was 29 degrees in the room when we got in. And the ac was a bit on the slow side, so you can imagine how comfortable it was (not!) - it’s 39 degrees outside! You want to come into a nicely cooled room. Another thing, just an idea, a bit on the personal side: there’s a nice water fountain that, somehow, replicated the sound of waves. It is sort of soothing and definitely relaxing. I would have loved if it had been on during the night. Falling asleep to that sound would have been amazing (it was on, again, at 7:17 am). Sorry guys, these are complicated days, I know, with COVID and all the resulting restrictions. But if you are open for business, make sure you offer what you are supposed to.
Strange place
This hotel is on the edge of the town centre, about 20 minutes walk from the Alcazar and the Cathedral. The hotel has a depressing decor, and at first it is easy to get lost in its corridors. Our room was clean and a reasonable size, but not cosy or comfortable. The bathroom and shower where ok,but had a tinted glass swing door. The best thing was very good buffet breakfast.
Great for a long weekend
We booked this trip as a last minute long weekend. Seville is a beautiful city and there is a lot to see and do. The hotel is a great place to stay, perfect for a long weekend. The rooftop pool is a lovely, relaxing place to be after a day of walking around BUT there is no bar or anywhere to get a drink which is quite annoying. We ended up walking to the shops (which are everywhere within 2 min walk) and took our own drink with us. However, I would recommend this hotel if you just want somewhere easy and I’m great location.
