The world melts away...

I have stayed at Cibolo many times and never had anything but the most memorable of experiences. If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton, you're going to be disappointed. That sort of luxury hotel does not exist in this part of the world. But if you want to get away from concrete, cars, TVs and noise, and still sleep in a luxuriously comfortable bed and enjoy museum quality art and historic architecture, this is it. Like many of the guests that I have met at Cibolo, I have traveled the world. But year after year, the remote isolated beauty of West Texas beckons. This is a special place where spring fed stone troughs trickle through ancient courtyards. There is no room service. No one will carry your bags. There are no TVs in the rooms. If those things are important to you, you will not be happy here. If you truly like to get away from it all and spend evenings by an outdoor firepit looking at non-light polluted starry skies or you like to sink into a bed with the finest of linens, after a day exploring Terlingua, Marfa or Big Bend, it has no equal. Although it is totally unpretentious and lowkey, over the years it has been a favorite of some of the biggest celebrities in the world. Yes, it is expensive but people who are looking for the remote and unusual are regulars and I am grateful that I can afford to be among them.
The Cibilo Ranch - overrated!!!!!

this place is not even close to a 5 star resort. I would give them 3 1/2 stars tops. We went to a wedding here and never once saw a staff member. No one brought us or even asked us if we needed a drink. We had to get our own food.
We pulled up with a handy cap plaquered and they still made us park way out in the field. The rocks leading up to the place wetr horrendous not to mention the ubeve. Pathways leading into the building.
To top off this place only had a 1 stall bathroom that both men and women. Had to share with a guest list over 250 people.
The place isms beautiful. Buy hardly worth the price.
Stay far away from this 3 1/2 star resort!!!!!!
Not a Four Seasons type of hotel, but still gets a BIG FIVE STAR review

OK,,,,,,, here’s the scoop. You need to have your expectations properly aligned with what type of accommodations are here. Not a Four Seasons type of hotel, but an “off the charts” five star experience nonetheless. I LOVED my stay here. My family LOVED our stay here. Having said all that, let’s get to work on trying to “align your expectations”. A good place to start is with the cons. When you turn off the paved Hwy 67, you are greeted by a plain Jane farm gate and four miles of bumpy dirt roads that lead you to your accommodations . (I was glad I drove my RAM pick up truck and not my wife’s BMW). When you check in and sign all of the paper work, don’t ask for a key to your room, because there isn’t any. Yes you can lock your door from the inside at night if you like, but no key is necessary, as everyone staying here are good people, just like you. Call it Boy Scouts honor, or whatever you like.
If you are expecting the maid to come in during the day to clean up, change linens, and perhaps leave a chocolate mint on your pillow, you are in for a long wait. You make your own bed, and you learn not to soil your sheets, because they don’t come to your room during your stay. The room reminded me of a quaint bed and breakfast I stayed at in Taos, New Mexico. Mexican/Southwest style, wood burning fireplace in the corner, clean (but not impeccably clean). OK, now that I’ve shocked you, let’s get to the good stuff. You will always, and I mean ALWAYS remember your stay at Cibolo Creek Ranch. The History, including the in-house museums will enlighten you and intrigue you. The Hummer guided tour of the 45,000 acre ranch will saturate your senses like never before. Breathtaking, awesome, incredible!! The chef cooked meals, in a quaint family style dining area will have you begging for more. There is definitely a spiritual connection to be made here, like no other place I have ever visited. Totally unique, totally SW Texas. If you think you can find another place as good as this in the Marfa, Presidio area, forget it. It doesn’t exist. Yes it is pricey, but TOTALLY WORTH IT!!
Never Again -- This place is a Non-Caring Rip Off

I was excited to visit Marfa and booked a 3-night stay on-line. I called the hotel and let them know my wife and I were coming down to visit Marfa to visit art scene. Never did they offer that Marfa was shut down due to Covid. Three hours later, after trying to make dinner reservations in town and schedule art tours--I called the hotel back to cancel the reservation and let them know we would come back when Marfa was again open. They insisted on charging me $900, saying that it was their "policy." I asked to speak with the manager and left my name and number but never a word heard back.
If you want to spoil yourself with an expensive vacation at a great place, take this one off your list!
Beautiful scenery and great food

My wife and I recently stayed at Cibolo Creek for our anniversary. We chose the Ranch because it was away from everything so we could enjoy ourselves during COVID isolation. We fly into Marfa and drove to the Ranch. Upon arriving it is like stepping back into a Spanish/Mexican Hacienda. The architecture is spot-on authentic. I have visited some Haciendas in Mexico and this one was exactly like what you would see in Mexico. The staff from the front office to the restaurant/bar to the maids were outstanding and very friendly and accomodating. We arrived on a Wednesday so my wife and I were the only ones seated for dinner and boy was the food great. The great good continued to breakfast the next day and on into lunch and dinner. I would say you come here for the beautiful scenery (the Chinati Mountains are all around you) but you stay for the food and hospitality. As has been said before, this not your ordinary Dude Ranch, its very upscale but also very comfortable and accomodating. We can't wait to return this summer. Thanks again for such a wonderful trip.
