Tired, overpriced, poorly maintained, uncomfortable and disappointing
I will remain factual: On checking in I had an 75yr old couple walk past me in dressing gowns at reception which made me feel uncomfortable. Money taken on checking in Entry stairs difficult for me to use steep and narrow (I’m a fit 45 yr old man) Bed uncomfortable (had to take pain killers at 2am to aid sleep) Room small and furniture was cheap white and old fashioned. Two fat flies entered the room at 2am (windows and door closed?) Noise from corridor and other room very loud (woke up regularly) Difficult to get into bathroom past bed Bathroom dirty. Repairs to bath meant only a shower was desirable. No shower curtain meant holding show head with one hand and shower gel with other hand whilst sitting on the side of bath to not wet the floor (shower and bath not really very useable) Tap marker for hot tap missing Poor repair on shower head holder . It kept fallen down and had a piece of tissue stuffed inside. Seal around bath yellow and falling off Toilet pan filthy Two mirrors : one in bathroom a small 12” at 5ft and one in bedroom very small over desk. Neither any use to see yourself before you exit. View from room just over a courtyard and series of 5 dirty old storage sheds. Bedsheets had a few black hairs (I’m blonde) and other dirty marks. Looked like we’re coming through from the duvet. Covwebs on the lights...should be a covid clean room Cutlery at breakfast served in 49p beach bucket Breakfast plate with ‘full English’ served on 7” plate Walk down to see not possible due to path erosion. The walk is via the public road. Voiced my concerns on exit and concerns over being double everything else in the area and how this could jot be justified. No follow up from hotel/ Manor House. Positives were a friendly receptionist on check in but it was her last day I think the Luccombe Manor hall hotel and Manor country house are the same place. Just access from different roads from the corner.
Family weekend away to Isle of Wight
Luccombe Hall was exactly what we needed for two nights away in mid December. Very friendly staff, extremely clean in Covid times and mindful of social distancing. The room was spotless and the hot tube meant even when it was raining the kids (aged 9 and 11) were happy to relax in the room. Lovely coastal walk starts a few meters from the Hotel and easy to access the rest of the Isle of Wight by car. We would highly recommend this hotel.
A fabulous break
We did not want to leave we enjoyed it so much. We had a seaview and balcony and did manage to use it although limited because of the weather. The pool and jaccusi were great. The food service was very good. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We feli safe and the room was serviced daily. We would recommend thia hotel. We will be back
Fabulously helpful staff
This hotel has a great location with the most amazing views from the sea view rooms. It's a combination of quite old fashioned areas and incredibly modern parts. We visited during Tier 1 requirements so we have no idea what the hotel normally looks like. The food served in the restaurant is hearty and good but currently with a limited menu. The staff at the hotel are amazing - the reception, restaurant staff, housekeepers etc, and for this they should be really proud. The gardens are extensive and overlook the bay, although in December we did not get the opportunity to use these. Nice small indoor pool and good value.
OK but room requires attention.
i always prefer to contact hotel management direct rather than use Tripadvisor, however, unfortunately i did not receive a reply. We stayed in room 15 from 25th October 2020 to 30th October 2020. We had an enjoyable stay and felt you dealt with the COVID situation very well. Restaurant and bar staff were attentive and professional. Unfortunately there was only one room available when we booked, otherwise we would have booked something other than the standard room. The size of our room was adequate and the bed very comfortable. However, the taps in the bathroom require attention, the hot tap on the basin operates in reverse and the bath hot tap is temperamental, sometimes sticking and sometimes jamming making it difficult to turn off and regulate the shower. We understand, there is nothing that can be done about the view, but you should try and clean off the bird mess from the waste pipes etc. and repair the guttering, which leaks on to the roof below making a loud dripping noise forcing us to keep the windows closed overnight (unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind to us!). i would be reluctant to recommend due to the above issues.
