Beautiful hotel with an ugly side
I'll start by saying that we've stayed in this hotel several times now (twice for deaths in the family and now once for a wedding), all previous stays were great! We've even requested the same family suite as it suits us well with children. It's always very clean, most staff are friendly and we've not had any issues up until this last stay. I mentioned that we were part of a wedding party (1 of 2 that same weekend) and I will admit there was alcohol consumed at the reception. However, upon arriving back at the hotel we were immediately greeted with an extremely hostile front desk lady. We were laughing, having a good time...could we have been a little quieter, sure. Rather than asking us to be respectful of the other guests, we were told "this is not happening in my hotel tonight, you all need to disperse to your individual rooms and not let me hear you". She then proceeded to constantly harass us the rest of the evening until we succumbed and just went to bed. There were multiple calls to the rooms (even when we were purposefully trying to be quiet) saying that we were being too loud. Multiple trips down the hallway with her having to press her ear against the door to hear noise. The cops were called, but not for us, for another party and a lady that was not a part of our wedding party was escorted away in the cruiser. We eventually admitted as a group that she had it out for us and then proceeded to just call it a night around 1 AM. Keep in mind we didn't make it back to the hotel until approximately 11:45pm, so we weren't even up for more than about an hour. Fast forward several weeks later and the hotel is now charging our party an additional $600 something dollars for revenue lost/compensated to hotel guests that complained or left that evening. If it had gotten this bad, don't you think the cops would have actually come to our rooms to disperse us? Wouldn't we have been told "we've had an individual leave due to your loudness and we're going to be charging you for their stay"? Also, wouldn't there be a negative review on any of these sites for that duration of our stay (Oct. 16-18, 2020), yet you can't find ONE. This was never told to us. The letter that we received from the card company has a statement from the hotel that isn't even accurate of our entire party and quite frankly there are pieces that are just plain made up. I haven't even mentioned that our breakfast sandwiches from that morning that they microwaved for us were frozen in the middle when we got back to our rooms. I realize it's tough with Covid, so I was going to cut them a break. However, they don't seem to be cutting us a break. Also, we made 5 trips in 2 days back to the front desk to get new keys since they would quit working within a few hours of leaving the room. So if you are staying here and celebrating ANYTHING, I'd advise looking at the Hampton Inn next door. We've stayed there too and they've never hassled us before. I don't even typically like to leave reviews, always feel like they accomplish nothing. So having to type this up is a hassle in and of itself, so consider that as well.
Beautiful property
This is a beautiful property. The hallways are well lit and clean, and the rooms are immaculate. My only concern is that the breakfast was pretty skimpy and we had to wait in line while one employee handed out whatever items were requested. We've been to several other hotels during the pandemic who have let people still choose their own meal items, pick them up and carry them to their rooms. Still, overall, this was a wonderful place to stay.
Flawlessly clean. Excellent service.
The night before our arrival, the hotel staff called us to go over the covid related changes and expectations for the hotel. I was very impressed. It was quite the courtesy and done very well. When you walk in to the hotel lobby, you smell clean - not overpowering chemicals, but a clearly clean smell. The lobby is small, but very pleasant with a beautiful water wall. From 5 - 9 pm, you can have cookies, ice cream bars, and popcorn. I wipe down all surfaces with cleaning wipes due to covid/high risk concerns. Every thing in our room was incredibly clean. No lint, no spots, nothing! The room, once again, just smelled good. It was a very pleasant set up. We were assured that the room had been left empty for at least a day before our stay. In the back, out side, the is a gazebo and a water feature. There is another patio. It is very pleasant. There are plenty of restaurants and a grocery story within driving distance. Breakfast was good - breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, and AMAZING cinnamon rolls. The server was pleasant and was very good about social distancing and wearing gloves to serve. Easy access on and off the highway. Honestly, this is the best hotel I have stayed at in many, many years. I wish all the other hotels we stayed at on this trip met this standard.
Great, Healthy Place to Stay During These Days of COVID-19
We're stayed here several times over past 2-3 years, when passing through. Made a reservation this time, just to be sure we had a nice place to stay - wasn't sure what to expect, since we hadn't ventured out on the road yet. Web site was very good at setting COVID-19 safety/health precautions prior to our visit. On arrival, noted signs requiring masks at entry, Plexiglas shielding between desk clerk and guests, and since we'd made a reservation, they had our credit card and other check-in info. Room was clean, signs on elevator to socially distance, spread out, etc. They had lots of menus for take out, and places to call for delivery, Morning Grab 'n Go breakfast was superb - you tell kitchen person what you wanted, they bagged it for you - coffees, juices, cold cereals, breakfast sandwich (a poor man's egg McMuffin), fruit, sweet rolls, etc. Also had in-room Keurig coffee maker. An excellent and healthy choice for where to stay when in the area!
Quality exceeds higher end hotels
We're from the area and visit family and friends without a need for hotel. Had to get a room this trip and used senior rate to book here. It was delightful. Staff was exceptional from desk staff greeting us as personal guests to housekeepers (professionally dressed in uniforms) to breakfast hostess who were all pro-active with their engagement. Every single persoal was professional and helpful. Our room was roomy and comfortable, immaculate and nicely decorated; in-room coffee, micro-fridge always a plus. Excellent shower with high quality towels and linens. We applaud the chain's use of dispensed shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the shower. Traveling dozens of weeks per year for our work, we have always found the little plastic "doses" inconvenient and wasteful. The breakfast was good, especially the famous cinnamon rolls, and area was well-attended. Hot items were the usual and acceptable but I was pleased to have steamed mixed vegetables as an option. Interesting. Monday through Thursday includes Happy Hour with 50-cent drinks in the common area including snacks. Wednesday night has food but we were checked out that morning. Next time. Fruit and cookies provided in lobby. The pool, fitness room, patio and laundry were all exceptional (did not get to use but they looke nice). Access to and from interstate is easy as is a direct route to shopping and dining. It's a gem.
