Poor Amity, whatever happened to you?

We’ve stayed in these apartments many times over the years and on this occasion were shocked to find them in such a poor state. The rooms need a good scrub top to bottom, cracked tiles replaced, filthy windows washed, curtains thoroughly cleaned and bathrooms given a much-needed make over. Clearly not a cent has been spent on the place in years. The only thing that made our stay pleasurable was the attentive nature of lovely Camilla on Reception and her sidekick Tony who couldn’t have been more helpful by way of giving first aid to many of the shortcomings. We rather fancy he does that for a living. As for day to day housekeeping, good luck if you can catch them! Lucky there were rubbish bins in the street close by. One favourable thing: Wifi was pretty good, probably because there were so few other folk staying while we were there. Presumably others had been forewarned!

Most Pathetic, Worst Service, Unhygienic mess

I checked in around 5.30 PM on 20th October 2022 and have raised some big concerns about the apartment#602 . Note that we have a two year old traveling and some of the below are serious health concerns for her. 1. Kitchen taps broken 2. Bathroom doors not locked 3. Balcony door broken by last week visitors and not fixed 4. Dirty window panes which have not been cleaned in many months 5. Dirty fridge, there is a layer of dirt on the top of it which has not been cleaned in many months 6. Bed is making noises and mostly broken 7. Balcony is dirty -- there is layers of dirt and garbage thrown 8. Heater smells of burns and for a moment we thought the apartment was on fire 9. There was noone at checkin and the number given outside the door was unanswered 10. Carpets have holes and are unhygenic To top this horrible experience, the management didn't even respond to a single request from us and the receptionist evaded all our enquiries.

Terrible and dangerous

Never stay here! My partner was given a dud swipe card and got locked out all night after he went downstairs to pick up Uber eats. There’s no reception except weekdays. He even tried pressing the alarm in the lift and rang the after hours emergency number close to 60 times but no one answered. In the end he got an after hours locksmith that cost $300. Initially the night manager John Trieu (who is also the director?!) was apologetic, but when it came time for a refund he started making excuses that my partner “had the wrong card” and it’s not his fault he’s “a heavy sleeper” and didn’t answer. When we kept trying to get a refund he then made up a $300 “smoking in room” charge. How? My partner was locked out for 8 hours. My partner is epileptic and couldn’t get his tablets as they were in the room, he had a seizure. This hotel doesn’t pass basic health and safety. It could catch on fire, and no staff would attend and the alarms don’t work. We’ve got video of all of this in case John try’s to make up excuses.

CHOOSE ANOTHER ONE NOT THIS ONE

I have to take them to VCAT to return my bond of $300. I am a very fair reasonable reviewer and I strongly recommend choose elsewhere, the room was tiny nothing like the photo plus I overflowed the sink by accident rang reception offered to pay another night to dry areas of carpet but was told not to worry to put towels down. They then charged me exactly $300 for carpet cleaning stains and added damage to a wall I didn't damage. I asked for proof of getting carpets cleaned but they sent their own invoice at exactly $300. It's been 2 years and after numerous attempts to resolve they refuse, I could of stayed at Crown for what I paid to stay in a tiny apartment. Terrible customer service assured me not to worry to put towels down then to lie and say they got professionally cleaned because water stained the carpet, water is clear it does not stain. I feel so undervalued as a customer and to take my money during Covid Lockdown when I was unemployed and suffering from mental illness due to Covid and went there for a break to now have to go to court, it's only $300 I understand but it's the principle they can't tell me not to worry when I offered to pay another night to dry to then take my money. They should be ashamed of how they have dealt with this situation and if I were you and you book this hotel cancel and go somewhere else that charges less deposit and wouldn't dare keep it for their own pockets because other hotels value customers this hotel does not value you as a customer, there are much nicer apartments close by choose another one.

A wonderful find - we will be nack

I booked these apartments due to their rating and affordability. We were not disappointed; for a family it was clean, spacious and I appreciated the kitchen (paying for all meals for a family of four can be expensive) So it was fantastic having facilities to prepare meals. We did need to ask for a toaster which was promised to be delivered to our room but this didn’t happen; we were happy with cereal for breakfast anyway for a two night only stay so didn’t feel the need to follow up. Grateful to also see a washing machine and dryer installed however couldn’t find washing powder? Even just a sample size would be really handy. Car parking is well worth the $30 per night fee for security. We will definitely return!
