Great Disappointment😔
We came to Springfield to tour the Lincoln Presidential Museum (a definite MUST DO tour for all Americans 👏). As a Hilton Honors Diamond member - I always stay at Hilton properties on my various adventures. This trip was no exception is searching for the best accommodations at the most affordable prices. Generally the Hampton Inn & SUITES tend to be a step UP from the regular Hampton Inn. However, this hotel was sadly a step down. I understood that COVID has presented complications, challenges and concerns for hotel staff and travelers alike - but that’s not an excuse to allow a Hilton property to go into such obvious decline. While the front desk staff was sparse but friendly- there’s definitely a lack of professionalism and proper etiquette. Their “hot” breakfast consisted of individually wrapped sandwiches and hot water for oatmeal. It’s also noteworthy to me that if the goal of not serving hot breakfast offerings due to COVID - then why would having the hot water thermos that requires each guest to push a button plunger - be any safer than providing hot meals through serving by staff??? I’ve stayed at 7 Hampton Inns the past 7 nights. This was undoubtedly the bottom of the bucket. The other Hampton Inns had hot breakfasts served by staff - 6’ away with masks & gloves. And most were delicious. Maybe the management at this facility has given up. It appeared from parking lot that they only had 10-12 guests last night in an 80+ room hotel 😮 Regardless- I’m taking the time to write this honest TripAdvisor Review to both provide accurate information from my perspective while challenging the management to take steps to improve the image of this property to better align with the Hilton Standards of Excellence that I’m accustomed to receiving. This hotel needs a major remodel. All of the furniture, doors, walls and even our bathtub was scratched, dented or rusted. The toilet paper and tissue dispensers were rusted from moisture I assume from the shower. The carpet was dirty and smelled. The drapes barely would open. The exterior was not better with scratched and dented doors and overgrown landscaping. It’s sad that a once beautiful property like this with all of its great potential is being neglected. Having been a Diamond member for nearly 20 years and now staying at such a dismal place- this stay was definitely a great disappointment!!!😢
Felt safe!
Hampton is our choice when we travel. During this time of Covid all the precautions we can find or thoroughly appreciated. The room was clean and had the sticker on the door showing it had been sanitized. Employees were all wearing masks. There were a few guests who were not. Sanitizer is available at locations throughout. Check in and out on the app is very convenient. Breakfast was good and we took it back to our room to eat. Plenty of towels/tp in the room. Excellent location and easy to get to. Had a great nights rest.

Felt welcoming as soon as I entered the lobby which, by the way, is bright and airy. The desk agent was pleasant and helpful. My room was clean (thanks to Lesley), bed was comfy, and there was a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was equipped with toiletries and plenty of towels. If all the Hamptons are like this, I will seek them out on my next trip. I was a senior traveling alone, and I felt safe and secure at this hotel. My compliments to the staff for an enjoyable stay.

Great breakfast. The fruit smoothies are wonderful. The breakfast sandwiches are good too. Kind service from multiple staff members. I stayed here 4 nights for work in this area and I would definitely return. The beds and pillows were great.

Well, I can see why this is rated #2 on Tripadvisor. Everything about my stay was perfect, comfy bed, clean room, great staff, etc... The hotel is located in a good neighborhood (although it's not in a "neighborhood", but still a very low crime area). Well worth the money!
