AVOID THIS PLACE!!

So let me tell you my experience from this property... I work for a travel agency so I visited before my group arrives. So I booked a room in a "5 star" hotel "Safe and Secure hotel" listed in the Hello Again Sri Lanka. Problem is not that it's actually a 3* villa (I have pictures of how dirty the room was from the first day I checked-in). Problem is they tolerate the sexual harassment. One of these days a 70(?) year old guy, the cook of the property brought me juice to my room and he touched my inner thigh.. I told him to get out of my room and he start apologise. The first move was to call the Sri Lankan embassy in Greece and then the greek consulate here in Colombo. I also filed a complaint to the Tourist police. I asked from the manager there the contact of the owner of this "hotel", who lives abroad. Αt first he was "I believe you blah blah blah". After he talked with his lawyer he changed the way of speaking. He offered a Mac Donalds meal as a gesture of good will. Even the police officers that I spoke with on the phone laughed. They are many tourists visiting here and I am wondering this cook could do the same to a solo traveller or even to a child, because a child wouldn't understand or react. Not to mention that he made me clear he will keep him in business because the owner said "people make mistakes". The tourist police after I complaint visited the hotel, arrested the cook.

On yet another return holiday to sri lanker i decided to stay at d.villas as a stop over after a long flight before heading to the coast as i did the year before.Remembering what a lovely relaxing place it was and the perfect place to recharge i was not disappointed! The perfect place to touch down before your onward journey! great refreshing pool!

Bad experience, horrible staff and over priced

I stayed in D VILLAS with some of my friends in February 2016 and it was a horrible experience. This is the worst boutique hotel I have ever been to read the following list, 1.The Supervisor/ Manageress's by the name SHARMALI is very unprofessional and has a obnoxious attitude. She is very rude and negative to customers. She doesn't know what Customer service is and doesn't care about the guest's needs. When i ordered for room service she refused to serve. ( Just imagine paying for so much for a hotel like this ) 2. The staff are highly inefficient and not friendly. Doesn't seems to know what the hell they are doing or what a hotel service is like. 3. Previous day when I ordered for room service it took more than 1hour to get to my room. 4. Food is over priced and doesn't have a quality. 5. Rooms are dirty, You can find previous guests hair in the tub and the bed linen had stains. This so called boutique hotel is definitely not value for money. For the price you pay for D VILLAS anyone can stay in a good, luxurious five star hotel with good food, good service and friendly staff.

We stayed for 3 nights during our trip in Sri Lanka. I will start with the positives...Nice welcome with king coconut drink.Very modern rooms and reception. Amazing comfy sun lounger. Gown in room which was great. The things that let this hotel down... Firstly not as clean as you first think... Marks on bedding, dusty, lack of staff when went to order food etc. they also tried to charge us for full English when only had egg as vegetarians. Food is also over priced for what it is. Not very many places around so perhaps going into Colombo to eat would be recommended.

D Villas has a warm, homey, tropical like atmosphere and the surrounding environment is a quiet neighborhood. You'll feel rested and relaxed, add to it are the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner (David), his staff and guide/driver (Lakshman). The first floor is a sala / living room turned receiving area. When I arrived, the staff gave me their warmest smile (the best smile I've ever seen in my life, no kidding), unloaded my luggage from the car, and welcomed me with a fresh coconut water. The villa is well maintained and very clean. The interior is of tropical theme. Free wi-fi is available in all areas with excellent connectivity. My room was on the second floor - the Royal Suite 1. By the way, second and third floors of the villa are accessible only by stairs (no lift). Royal Suite 1 is a very spacious room. It has a king-size bed, flat screen TV, cable channels, cozy lamps and lighting fixtures, mini bar, Nespresso, full-length mirror, closet (slippers and bathrobes are provided), rattan sala set (two chairs and a table), big windows that welcome sunshine and brighten the room at daytime, spacious toilet and bath (en-suite with jacuzzi-like massage tub; with towels and toiletries), and a balcony. In-room free wi-fi is provided (excellent connectivity). Free breakfast is also provided with my room booking. Breakfast selections are English, Continental and Sri Lankan. During my stay, I always requested for the English breakfast, which was very filling and came with a kettle of Sri Lankan coffee (or tea, your choice). Breakfast can be served in the room or near the swimming pool (on the third floor), as you please. On the third floor is where the gym, bar, hot jacuzzi tub and the swimming pool are located. Ratan dining sets are provided in the bar area and near the pool in case you opt for a cozy, laid-back breakfast, lunch, supper or dinner. Outside the villa, you can find a mini store (in just a minute of walk) that sells bottled mineral water and some-some toiletries and local snacks. D Villas is a few minutes drive to the city center of Colombo, four to five hours drive to Sigiriya Rock and tea estates, and a 45-minute to an hour drive to Bandaranaike International Airport (via normal route; there's a shorter drive option which is via express highway, 20 to 30 minutes). I highly recommend D Villas to solo travelers, family, couples, honeymooners and writers like me who need new inspirations and perspectives. Ayubowan! :)
