We have just returned from a holiday in Scotland where we have stayed at several B&Bs and visited a number of Houses and Gardens which equips us with comparisons for reviews. We stayed at Bamflatt Farm in order to visit the Burrell Collection in Glasgow. This did not start well because when we arrived there was no-one to welcome us. We had to telephone to get a code to enter a key safe. Apparently we had been sent an email in the morning asking for a mobile number in order to text us this information. So access proved to be very difficult. Eventually we got into the room which was very clean and comfortable with a view. Someone arrived and did not offer any apology or welcome but just dealt with the practicalities of breakfast. We did receive an apology from presumably the owner at breakfast but by then the damage was done. Perhaps the highlight of this stay was a visit to the local village which had a Chinese Restaurant in the pub at Glassford. Breakfast was like visiting a service station. Inhospitable but efficient if basic. We would not visit this place again.

Marvellous stay here. Very nice sized room, spotless clean, great value. Breakfast filling and well cooked. Very happy to recommend this place. Margo the host made us very welcome. Gorgeous views of countryside surrounding. Give it a try,!

First thing to mention is there is a comfortable feeling that all the COVID protocols are being adhered to. This makes me feel safe. The accommodation is clean and spacious with great views across the hills. The breakfast is great, generous and individually prepared. It’s a great base for touring this lovely part of the world or as a stop off point on your way north or south.

We all arrived so excited for our few days away as a family, however that was soon to change! She never introduced herself I had to ask are you Margo? She had a hassle with the 4 rooms booked, who was in what room etc. There was 13 of us ages from 3wks to 90yrs. Gave me the keys and pointed to where the rooms were never showed us to our rooms. She asked for the money in cash and laid it out and counted it in front of me before I left the room £1200. My daughter went to make sure her Grampa was settled whilst speaking to him at the bedroom door the owner came and told them to keep the noise down as the people in the opposite room were trying to sleep...it was 15.30! My father is deaf, thankfully he never heard her order! Everything seemed to be a problem for this woman. I asked before we came if it was child friendly and she said it was...she never acknowledged the children at all. There was a cot directly outside my daughters room, we assumed it was for her 2yr old and took it into the room. I was questioned as to where the cot had gone?? I assured he we hadn't taken it downstairs! That for me was the final Insult. I was discussing the hostilities with my husband in the room, the girl who had questioned me about the cot was cleaning the room next door. By this time I had gave up trying to my usual polite self and didn't care what she heard. Funny what happened next...our 2yr old was a little cutie, she wanted to see the baby, she could keep my daughters breakfast warm while my daughter fed the baby, my 9yrs old granddaughters hair was so cool, maybe the kids could go with granny to see the little kittens it was so false! Obviously the girl cleaning the room had gone back and reported what she overheard. All of the above was evident for the previous two days?? My 7yr old grandson was asking the 2yr old to keep her voice down coming down the stairs at 4 o'clock in the afternoon...even they felt the tension! The cups, plastic tumblers weren't change in our time there nor we we asked if we needed anything topped up. Thankfully she never managed to spoil all of our break away. We spent most of the time away from the accommodation. The accommodation is clean the breakfast was good but as for the welcome and friendliness of the owner it is a place to avoid. She asked for a review she got it. Possibly not the one she wanted?? Maybe she could take a course in customer relations?

It's a nice location and the accommodation looked nice. However the barn conversions had thin walls and we heard lots of noises from neighbouring rooms from both sides. The owner/manager was curt at first on arrival but subsequently plain rude/aggressive over a very minor issue. In the wrong job I'm afraid to say. Also took payment for our rooms from one card before breakfast, without permission. A great shame but will never stop here again.
