Nice spot with a few issues

Avaliou em 23 de março de 2023

We recently spent 4 days at Khaolak Ramada. We stayed in a pool room which was clean and very nice. The grounds are nice and the pool and beach are clean. Staff were kind and friendly with very little English. The breakfast buffet is okay. Not special. We called reception for a couple things and had to call a few times before getting a result. Unfortunately on day 1 my husband fell on a badly placed unstable chair into a cactus tree and had over 100 cactus needles into his arms and back. The staff didn’t understand the need for medical attention and there was no first aid available. I ran back to the room to get my tweezers and the restaurant staff kindly spent an hour trying to remove the needles (of which he is still removing some two weeks later). The restaurant manager Wan offered us a free dinner and was very kind but perhaps a better protocol should have been in place for an issue like that. We asked to speak to management but no one got back to us.

Great hotel, great location

The hotel is located right on the beach. Is within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and night market. Rooms were good, staff were friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were tasty and breakfast had plenty of variety. Beach was clean and ocean was good for swimming. Taxis were located right outside of hotel and hotel also can arrange airport or other transfer services for you.

This was our second stay at the Ramada this time we stayed in a pool villa room 6202 and it was magical tuck away in a private garden with sunbeds and setting area and a very cold! swimming pool although it was lovely the room could defiantly do with an upgrade the decking looked worn and parts of the room also looked outdated no where near enough socket for charging etc. the main hotel area is well kept with the gardens looking amazing, staff very friendly and helpful. I did think that breakfast was limited and repetitive. we ate lunch a couple a of times and it was always good and a fair price for hotels. we love this area of Thailand it is like a secret heaven the beach is great for long walks and the sea was lovely for swimming. the only down side is that since we was last in Khao lake they have removed all the each restaurant on this area of beach and as this is one of the things we like the most we did miss them, although you are easy walking distance to lots of restaurants, bars & the market in town. overall a great holiday but I would look at other hotels when we next return.

We stayed here for an extended stay and fully enjoyed it. Had a minor hiccup at the start, but the manager fully satisfied our needs and was very helpful. We had a large 3 floor room with very comfortable sleeping. Spacious deck area with a lounger. We wished it had chairs and a table. Beach and pool chairs were always available. The pool was clean and enjoyable. Beach was in a good location. Restaurant had plenty of fresh fruits and foods in the morning. Great egg station made any way you like. Great staff are always refilling your coffee or clearing your table. Enjoyed the massage at the hotel spa, very relaxing. Location to outside amenities was great, and we could walk the area and enjoy the local culture. Several restaurants, night market, and tour services are available. We would definitely return to the Ramada.

Could be better

Ramada Khao lak was disappointing for us to the extent we unfortunately checked out 3 days early, the staff however were really helpful and should be commended for trying their best to keep guests happy. Let me start by saying the grounds and rooms are lovely and exactly as you would expect. The problems are high levels of chlorine which caused several bikinis and head hair to go yellow, after speaking to several people who maintain pools this would be due to chlorine being topped up to try and keep the pool sanitary but the water not being refreshed as frequently as it should. The second issue is the reserving of sunbeds, it was the worst I have ever seen at any hotel. I can only think there is not enough sunbeds as by 7.30am all of the beach ones are reserved, many of which don’t get used all morning. This should be easy to rectify. Breakfast was mediocre and we didn’t try dinner so cannot comment. All in all we felt it didn’t represent value for money but thanks management for letting us check out early with a refund for unused days.
