Amazing experience - the BEST employees
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! I have never encountered a friendlier or more accommodating hotel staff. From check in with Michaela and Tracy, to housekeeping to the day manager, (woman with glasses, I didn't catch her name). Answered all questions with a smile. We asked for more toiletries since we travel with 4 females (lol). No problem at all. Everyone smiled and said good morning or good afternoon. We travel a lot and I've been at hotels where staff barely acknowledge you, let alone go out of there way to ask if you need anything, like these employees were more then willing to do. Room was clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Nice balcony with plenty of room to sit out and enjoy a coffee if you would like. Nice restaurant/bar area. Small business area where you can access a computer, which I did need to use once to check on something for my job. Nice pool area that was not crowded and kept clean the whole time we were there. Nice thick towels stocked by the pool. It was little chilly, even for us Virginians, but we braved the pool a few times. I bet it is even more refreshing in the summer. Close to A LOT. At most, 10 minute drive to Busch Gardens which was on our to do list, 5 minutes from Lettuce Lake Park (see my other review), and a short drive from several restaurant/shopping areas with a good mix of chain restaurants and sole proprietor owned places. Close to USF so that probably feeds the economy of the area. Overall, a great hotel. Definitely would stay again next time we are in Tampa!
Just find another place to stay. Lobby nice of course. The walls are dirty. The room had so dust much on the headboard, clock radio etc. The carpet is nasty. The room smells bad. $100 per night. Not worth it.
Wonderful hotel in a great location
We have stayed in this hotel 3 times so far and are about to stay there again soon. The location is very nice, not far from I-75 but quiet. There are many good restaurants in the area, both typical American food and ethnic ones. Almost adjacent to the hotel, there's a fast-food place as well as Dunkin Donuts/Baskin-Robbins. We love having breakfast there (tasty biscuits and croissants, good coffee). The staff members are polite and accommodating. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, good lighting, the beds are comfortable, with nice bed linen and covers. The window can be opened to let fresh air in, and there are both gauzy and solid curtains. The bathroom is well appointed with plenty of soft towels of various sizes. The wi-fi works well. The outdoor swimming pool is heated to a pleasant temperature. There's a nice bistro which offers various foods and drinks.
Inspect what you expect...management!
The front desk clerk was pleasant and check-in was easy. When we arrived to the room it was a little warm as the AC was completely off. Turned it on and it smelled a little odd. The real problem was the dirty bathroom. Towels were fresh but the sticker from someone's pant size was stuck to the door jamb. We thought maybe housekeeping just missed it. The shower floor and walls were dirty with soap scum and dirt built up...I could etch it with my finger nail...ewww Skipped taking a shower there...No time to find a new place or to move. This is a management issue...check all of the rooms at random times...train your staff to meet expectations...
Don't do it!!!
My family and I stayed in this disappointing Courtyard for our summer vacation (7/18-7/21) Upon check in we were placed in a room with a loud barking dog next to us. Mrs. Betty at the front desk was kind to move us to the opposite end of the hall. However, this dog could still be heard. Housekeeping was cleaning and restocking on this floor but ignored the upset, nonstop, loudly barking dog. The second room we were placed in was a tad cleaner, as in the lamp shades did not have large stains on them. The room was run down. The towels had red and brown stains on them, the curtains and bedsheets had similar stains as well. Our daughter dropped a toy behind the couch, that was so disgustingly dirty that we told her the toy was no good and trashed it. The bathroom floors were sticky upon check in but then the toilet overflowed and that somehow made the floor less sticky. Our last night in the room we were woke up by a man beating a female and their screaming baby in the room next to us. our 2 year old was asking us why, not a conversation I imaged having with our toddler. We called the front desk who did not call 911, but instead sent guest services up to beg the lady to come out of her room and threaded to call the cops if it happened again. The hotel should strongly consider investing in security officers to walk the halls. The morning we checked out the family in the room next to us set off the stand alone (illegal since it is not monitored by the fire panel) fire alarm in their room. No one from the hotel came to inspect it. Instead 15 minutes later they walked the hall and said it smelled strange but again ignored the situtation. This room was right next to the maids closet, and staff was in the closest when it happened. We always chose Courtyards because we feel they have always had a higher standard and we know what to expect. We will be in this area 3 more times before the end of the year. Definitely not staying here and doubt we will stay in a Courtyard again.
