Average and outdated
Avaliou em 24 de março de 2023
The hotel was very outdated and needs a refurb. Carpets and furniture with stains. The TV was not working in my room. The fire alarm went off randomly at about 1am in the morning I tried to ring down to reception and phone wasn't working and tried to call reception from my mobile but no answer. Breakfast was average. The best thing was the comfortable bed and pillows. Definitely not worth £100 per night.

Pleasant stay but the hotel needs some TLC.

The hotel is a really lovely building but really needs updating in places which is why I’ve given 3 stars and not 4. Check in was smooth and the staff were very friendly. We booked a King room and we were surprised as to how big it was and it had a nice view over the courtyard. The bed was big and very comfortable with lovely pillows. The bathroom was a very good size with a bath and shower overhead, but it could do with a refresh as could the rest of the room and hotel as the carpets are a bit shabby and in parts of the hotel the paintwork is cracked and peeling. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but were told by a friend that they had a nice meal there. The hotel is a good base for exploring Shropshire and Shifnal is lovely. We only paid £70 for our room which is a bargain and we’d probably stay there again if we needed a room for the night.

We were visiting friends and family in the Midlands and stayed at this hotel. We stayed in Room 2 (suite). It was so comfortable and the rooms were huge. All the reception staff on that weekend were exceptionally friendly. We will definitely stay here again when visiting. Zoe & Paul Eastbourne

A wonderful find. Away on business, the standard is budget hotels, but given a decent offer and decent research, this was less expensive than a travel lodge and far nicer. I travelled and arrived mid evening so was surprised to find a near empty car park fully lit. The building itself is full of character, I love these styles so for me its ideal. Looking closely the decor is somewhat tired but its comfortable. On arrival the lady on reception was lovely. She was swift to check me in and nothing was too much trouble. My room was a bit of a walk through the building. If you have mobility issues there are steps after the lifts so make sure you notify in booking so you can be catered for correctly. My room was enormous, boutique styled with lots of lamps, a huge double wardrobe and probably one of the comfiest beds I have slept in away from home. The furniture is in keeping with the style. If you like ultra modern unless you can adapt this won't be for you. This is for lovers of home from home comfort, english style of early to mid 20th century. The tv works fine. All the lights well maintained, everywhere exceptionally clean (and Im a fussy mare). The bathroom was spotlessly clean sort of timeless victorian style. Can you tell I'm impressed? Tea, coffee station in a cupboard, an iron, ironing board, a hairdryer. Table and chair, dressing table and high back chair. Plenty of space. I am very happy with it. I ordered room service twice for evening meal. Classic burger one night, fish and chips the second. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. All the staff I met where friendly, cheerful and happy to assist. Its a pleasure to support this Crest hotels as a customer. I shall seek them out when travelling in future if this is their standard. Please do some research when looking for accomodation. Big chains are all well and good, but I paid less than £50 a night for this accomodation and found a place I'd happily come back to. Thank you to the team at the hotel.
