Great Location . .great staff . .
I stayed here for several weeks over July and August. This comfortable family owned hotel is perfect for it's central location in Puerto d l Cruz, and it's friendly and helpful staff. I plan to return again soon.
Been back a week from this hotel. Family of 4 with 15 year old and 12 year old my daughters 16 year old friend also came so we had booked 2 superior suites. As the transfer time is quite long we had arranged private transfer and arrived a good 45 minutes earlier than the bus so was worth it especially so late (landed 930 pm ish) Unfortunately when we got to our rooms we weren't in the superior rooms booked.without going in to boring details this was an error on Jet 2 part and luckily was rectified the following day but I would like to say the reception staff were fantastic in helping us sort it and jet 2 have also compensated us so although not the best start it was handled really well. The rooms we got (1705/6) had clearly recently been done up and were great a proper double pull out sofa in the living space which my son said was comfy, large balcony with 2 sunbeds and table and chairs and a view over puerto rico beach/ harbour Food is served in 2 restaurants sunrise and sunset they serve the same food but the layout in sunset is bigger and spaced out where as in sunrise it is more like a canteen all in one big line but we used both just depending how busy they were My main suggestion would be walk round twice then decide what to have as there is so much on offer you can miss things but I enjoyed every meal they serve 3 meals a day in these and then there is a pool snack bar also self service which has burgers chips salad and toastie all day and between 1-3 has something more like kebabs paella fish goujons etc. The actual hotel is a little tired and in need of a little TLC however it is immaculately clean and all the staff are friendly polite and helpful the entertainment team work non stop with activities of all kinds for all ages they are never pushy just friendly and informative and want people to enjoy there holiday. For all those who have given this a poor rating I'm surprised it is not advertised as a 5 star hotel but it certainly gives 5 star service and I think we had a great value for money holiday. I would recommend visits to amadores beach and Puert de mogan (both east to get to by taxi which reception staff will gladly book for you but there is a rank just outside the drive if the hotel. We did the walk down the steps to puerto rico beach/ harbour were the girls did parasailing and I would recommend food at the Waikiki bar here the staff are great and food was lovely.
Puerto Azul Hotel.. Great Hotel..
I stayed at the Puerto Azul Hotel in October 2018 for one night... It was the best night of my two week holiday in Tenerife... I had booked two weeks All-Inclusive at The Blue Sea Calleo Garden in Calleo Salvaje and had pre booked the Puerto Azul Hotel in Puerto de la Cruz prior to flying, because I wanted to spend at least one night at the northern part of the island having heard how nice it was. This proved to be a good choice as I fell in love with Puerto de la Cruz as soon as I arrived. The place is stunning, far nicer than the southern part of the island. All the old pedestrian streets with the old buildings and restaurants are out of this world.. It is on one of these old streets that the Puerto Azul Hotel is located.. and its great... The location is fantastic, the beds are super comfy and the shower is super powerfull... all the staff and the owner were super friendly and helpfull. Ever offering spanish lessons, Tip.. Dont go to Puerto de la Cruz and expect fluent English to be spoken to you by the majority of its inhabitants.. The Hotel is very close to the Plaza De Charco, on a street called Calle Lomo.. The night I had at the Plaza De Charco is without doubt the best night I have ever had in my life.. Stunning is the word.. The Jewel in the Crown of the Puerto Azul Hotel though is the view from its rooftop terrace.. I was speechless as I looked up at the La Orotava Valley and Mount Tiede.. Absolutely speechless.. You will never see a better view than that... I was gutted when I had to check out the next day, wishing I had not left my cash back at the other hotel I was staying at in Calleo Salvaje.. I told the owner if all my stuff was at the Puerto Azul I would have stayed for the remainder of my holiday... The hotel has a 24 hour reception, a free safe and free, FAST wi-fi.. The rooms do not have a fridge but guests have use of free fridges behind the reception, each room has an allocated space in the fridges. Also at reception is a coffee machine available to all guests.. Basically the Puerto Azul Hotel is great, its in a great place... Book it....
Friendly Staff, Bad Facilities
I stayed at this hotel with my partner in August 2018, I wouldn't say the hotel was awful but it definitely isn't one I would return to. However, I have never met such friendly staff so they are doing the right thing in that sense. Rooms So first impression of the rooms, it was very spacious, looked very clean but was extremely HOT we arrived at night time and got in to our room immediately having to change into thinner, shorter clothing and left to get some air. Anyway, the bathroom. This was so damp, the room constantly felt condensated and steamy. My partner was having a shower and couldn't get the water to heat, I then found there were temperature control on the other side of the room by the floor under the sink, this controlled the heat. As i was leaving I looked up and watched a large amount of dust and fluff fall into the shower from the air vent. The whole thing was covered in dust which clearly had never been tended to. The "balcony" was probably smaller than the bath and so I wouldn't hope for much if you're planning to be sitting on a balcony in the sun at your hotel. The one thing that really bothered me was there being no air con in the rooms, we were constantly uncomfortable and sweating all day and all night being in the hotel. We had to go and buy ourselves a fan for our room because we couldn't cope. The walls were sooooo thin, you could hear everything from the other rooms and the hallways, I could see straight into my neighbors room from my balcony which I didn't like the idea of. The beds smelled terrible, was hard to get a good sleep on the thin mattress on top of a wooden board which held the beds together. Roof Terrace I really liked this but did not spend any time here, I feel this had a lovely view and that it would have been a perfect place to sit and enjoy the sun. Food Free Tea and Coffee was available at any time which I feel was very welcoming. The 5 euro breakfast I was disappointed in, however my partner enjoyed this. I wasn't aware that we had no choice in what we were having. We were taken to a table which had a basket containing 2 loafs of hard baked bread, a few butters, a few jams, a platter of 3 selections of sliced meats. We also had some very sour orange juice in a jug for us and some cold coffee in a flask. I really didn't enjoy this as I would have preferred an option as someone who doesn't enjoy any of the things presented to me for me to pay for. Staff We both absolutely loved the staff here, they were always happy to help and always very chatty and up for a laugh with you. They also were able to speak many languages which I thought was great . Would definitely give the staff a 5 star. Overall, I suppose it's a get what you pay for hotel, I definitely wouldn't return here but it wasn't the worst hotel I've stayed in.
Return to Porto Azul
Like my first review nothing much has changed,it's had a make over , the room seems smaller than the last one. I've noticed that there are larger rooms so me being a single traveller gets the small room even though it has a double bed and still no socket in the room and it is very noisy at times, but I think I would still return because of its location,it's situated in the old fishermans area at the port on a pedestrian street,on an evening it is filled with restaurants opening up and filling the street with its tables and chairs. It looks magical. The staff at the hotel are great, if you have a problem they will go out of there way to help.
