Spent 3 nights with wonderful weather. Great hotel, great location, great food, very nice beach, great staff. Breakfast was very nice with good service. Maybe if I had one thing to say to improve the breakfast experience it would to serve a variety of barista style coffee.......We will be back

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location

Our second stay at Botany Bay Hotel. Our room was amazing, really clean with lovely bedding. We all had a great nights sleep! The location is fantastic, the views from our hotel room were incredible. The food was also really good. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t stay for longer! Would highly recommend and look forward to staying there again.

I stayed in room 505 with a friend. We paid extra for a sea view room & were very glad we did. Our room had balcony doors overlooking the sea plus a window over the car park which was ok because we saw a lovely sunset through it each night. The room was lovely and clean and decorated nicely, though the mattress didn't fit the bed properly which is a bit odd. The staff were really lovely and helpful, especially the reception staff. We weren't pleased that reception closed at 8pm though; we discovered that on our first night when we needed help with something, noone answered the phone & I had to come downstairs to find someone in the bar to ask for help. I was ready for bed & had no make up on (I'm self conscious & hated that). The breakfast was enjoyable, I'd just add pastries & yoghurt to the options if I could. The lunch menu was sparse with 3 sandwich options & no option for one on a Sunday. The dinners we had were nice but the salad we had at lunch on Sunday before our drive home was rather disappointing. For example, pepper was missing from the salad (there wasn't much to the salad to each ingredient counted(!) & the waitress told me the chef said that wasn't supposed to be in the salad - I pointed out that it was the first ingredient listed on the salad on the menu so she came back with some pepper from a jar for me to mix in to my salad. I think the menu needs an overhaul. The beach is lovely & we enjoyed sitting there relaxing all day. We also enjoyed an evening walk at low tide because we could explore further along and look at the chalk cliffs. You need to be able to walk up and down lots of steps though. There are toilets at the beach but they're truly horrific so we just used the hotel toilets as we were staying there anyway. Overall, we would stay at the hotel again but perhaps buy our lunch at the take away place on the beach instead.

Cracking stay

Having read some of the reviews I was a but concerned, but no reason to be. Check in was great, smashing couple of ladys we met were very friendly and efficient. The room we had was very clean fresh and the views were great. We had fish and chips at the hotel, which was fresh and very tasty. The staff were very young, well to me they were ha, but they were efficient and very polite. Couldn't fault our stay and would stay again for sure.

The location was the only reason I chose Botany Bay hotel, it is right by the beach and close to other great beaches like joss bay. The rooms are basic and tired but relatively clean. I have to warn anyone about thinking about eating here, please save your money and don’t! I can’t begin to tell you how bad the food is. We decided to have lunch here as by the time we arrived and spent time at the beach that we decided it was easy just to eat at the hotel. You have to pay for your food before it even arrives and when it does arrive it’s just so awful. Pasta over cooked, their homemade tomato ketchup is something I never want to experience again. Breakfast was included but orange juice was out of a carton and not fresh, veg full english included a couple of reheated frozen patties and same for the potato Rostis. There is just no care in the food. Menus and chefs need an urgent overhaul as the location is superb.
