Really disappointing, had to travel for work and wanted to go to the beach the next day. I booked room and showed up to a construction site. I called front desk to book reservation and no warning what so ever. Arrived and hotel was musty and floor fans were in lobby trying to circulate the air. Vents in lobby appeared to have black mold. Rooms smelled really musty too. We couldn't stay due to allergies and cannot get a refund (still pending) or even a customer service call back. Really bad experience.
Dirty and unsafe
I had serious security and cleanliness issues at this hotel which quite bad during a respiratory pandemic. First of all, the dead bolt security lock was broken on the door. Secondly, there were hairs in the shower and lots of dirt and mud on the floors. The final problem was dirty clothes from the previous guest that were left in the room. An additional problem was that there appears to be no manager or someone who can assist with any problems.Multiple attempts to call and resolve problem at front desk were futile. There are very clean and efficient lodging accommodations very close to this hotel which I highly recommend (the Holiday Inn express - see review - in George West - 11 miles away - and Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express or La Quinta in Kenedy - 30 miles away).
***Good*** The room was spacious and the computer desk was well sized. Breakfast coffee was hot and breakfast choices were good and hot. ***Not good*** The hotel did not accommodate my second floor request. The front desk said the second floor rooms had already been reserved even though I made the reservation far in advance of our arrival. I do not understand why a second floor room was not blocked for our dates. The bathroom was clean, but the room had scratched places on the wall so that the plaster underneath showed through the paint. One of the bed protectors had what appeared to be black ink spots on it. The hotel makes very clear how much they will charge you for any missing or damaged items. The picture attached shows the charges list in the room. Note that it has a “Misc. Items” catch-all category. I took a series of pictures of the room as soon as I saw the list and before placing anything in the room. There is a rules list taped down to the front desk that includes the line item “$100.00 Incidental Deposit for room. Cash or Credit card. You will get this back on check out if there are no damages to the room.” Since hotel personnel did not do a room check with me at check out, all I have are the pictures I took upon room entry. I also hung up all the bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths to take pictures of them and I took a picture of what was under the sink. Try to protect yourself as best as possible with these types of charges in place. The room a/c HI setting is not at all high; it is really a LOW. The computer desk chair would not raise to a proper height and stay that way. It immediately sank back down. The front desk did not have a proper replacement, so I had to sit uncomfortably low and use the computer desk as best as possible, which was not at all easy. The chair was somewhat wobbly and would tilt if I leaned a little too much any one direction. The computer desk lamp has only two sockets, so you need a multi-port power strip to have enough connections. The WiFi is wide open, no password required and that is ridiculous. Has the management of Three Rivers Inn been living in a cave somewhere the last 20 years and are not aware of the dangers of wide open, no password WiFi? I understand the hotel needing to protect itself from damage and theft, but their charges for the various items are way higher than actual market. The room items are not that luxurious with one bed protector having black spots and the other protector showing an obvious sewing spot at a former tear spot as examples. Consider carefully before staying here.
Due to the tropical rain storm our hunting trip had to be rescheduled for another weekend. We asked if we could reschedule our reservation for two weeks out (not cancel) and they would not let us since we were inside their cancellation window. Again, did not want to cancel but reschedule and zero flexibility. Will never stay there, and will make sure all of our friends, family, and business colleagues steer clear.
Had to take our 11yr old to the ER & had to cancel the room. I even offerred toprovide a pic of the ER admission slip. We were charged anyhow whole cost of the booking and person on phone wasn't friendly about it. I was looking for a place to stay for my weekly one or two night trips to George west/three rivers area but I will NOT be giving this place my business!
