Average, Nikki was amazing

Was not expecting much for the price we paid, to summarise: Good- Nikki, reception, bar and waitress, did it all both nights and always smiled and laughed! Clean- room and hotel seems well cleaned Food- as expected, cheap and quick, deep fried etc, but perfectly edible. Bad- Not even proper coffee for breakfast Residents- hotel clearly supporting local charities by putting up people, fine but they should dress appropriate and follow the rules. It’s tired, needs money spent, Summary: For 30 quid a night dinner bed and breakfast, can’t really knock it! BIG up to Nikki, who did reception, bar and waitressing both nights we stayed. Always smiled, without here the review would have been negative!

Worse than 'Faulty Towers'...Trecarn hotel, Babacome, Torquay.

We stayed at The Trecarn hotel just outside Torquay for New Year (30th December 2022 - 2nd January 2023). The hotel is run-down, there is a stench of damp, visible mildew, plaster is falling off the celing. A shelf fell off the wall near the hot drinks area due to the damp wall. Rust in the bath, wood splitting on doors and bed legs, limescale on shower head, shower screen didn't fit. All we could smell is damp, which is no need at all but expecially when there are vulnerable eldery customers and someone immune suspressed like myself, this is a risk to health. There is no emergency escape plan and the fire doors have gaps under them, no near by exits either. Towels and bedding is left out side in the rain. Holes in bedding. Cobwebs in main areas such as bar. Food was very poor and under cooked! I get cooking for coach parties on a budget, but then there is no need for very poor food. Britannia hotels are just for profit and greed. They spend as little as possible, but could care less about standards to food and the rest of the accommodation, as long as they are having their pockets lined. People staying in temporary accommodation too, which does not matter to me as I am educated enough on the housing and refugee situation, but surely the hotel should not be taking holiday bookings at the same time. On the night of New years day my partners dad and brother could hear inappropriate noises and doors banging until 2am when a member of staff had to tell them. Only one receptionist and waitress was helpful. Male receptionist is rude and arrogant. Bar prices are extortionate and do not match the rating of the hotel £5.50 for a beer and almost £12 for a double g and t! Do not waste your money, stay away. Hopefully Caledonian travel will take this hotel off their website and Trading Standards will take action.

I arrived after hell of day kissing my wallet was only available to pay over the phone but the lovely staff member Nikki was very understanding and so helpful. After Eventually get a payment sorted I then went is to the restaurant for some food only to be served by the same lovely lady and then proceeded to the bar only to be served by her yet again. I really take my hat off to to this woman and wish there was more people like her in Hospitality. Thanks again and definitely will be back

went for the new year with my daughter ,we often go for the new year , the hotel has a lot of work done and looked great ,all staff were friendly and helpful , nice room, very clean ,and warm ,great entertainment , and a nice new years eve , the compare do a great job , and a great singer on as well

I genuinely have not seen such horrendous 'hotel' rooms as this! my room had a horrible smell, corridors stunk with uneven very squeaky flooring, furniture in room very horrible. I was beyond disgusted when I was shown the room. the ceiling had extensive water leakage marks, filthy walls! showers atrocious! there was no soap provided. I checked in very late close to midnight with little options of finding alternative hotel. As I type, I am certain will struggle to lie down on this bed with a horrible smell in the room! I don't know how this classes as a 'hotel' It's absolute shambles!!!! I wish I could give it MINUS score
